Hello Writersmergians and Obernetters alike!
I wanted to draw everyone’s attention the 15 minute fiction thread, here in Writers.
The good Bunne has continued to post up the words each week, but sadly, no one seems to have had time to write.
What is a 15 minute fiction you ask?It is a challenge that began in the LJ (live Journal) community. You are allocated 15 minutes (max) to write whatever you can based on a prompt word.
What is a prompt word? Each week a link is given to the prompt word. This word doesn’t have to be used in the writing itself, but should be used to inspire/ direct your story.
What do I write? You can write anything, from fan-fic to poetry or an original story. It’s up to you. The only specification is that it stems from the prompt word given, and is completed within the 15 minute time slot.
Please don’t look at the word until you are ready...the 15 minutes begins as soon as you see that word!
How do I join in?15 min fiction is a challenge open to any Onetter who wishes to participate. All you need to do is go to the
15 minute fiction thread and check out the latest prompt word (or alternatively, you can go back to any of the prompt words already posted...just don’t look at them before you are ready to write).
Also, you don’t have to post every week...as you can see the board has been quiet of late. We realise there are other things going on in peoples lives, so don’t feel you can't participate because you don’t always have time to sit down and write.
How do I post my writing? We ask you not to post your story directly to the 15 minute fiction thread. Instead, we suggest making an account on
Live Journal and posting your stories there. Then you just provide a link to your LJ in a post in the Ficlet thread.
But I'm not sure my writing is good enough....It doesn’t matter what your writing is like. Many of those who have participated previously felt the same way when we began. The idea isn’t to compare yourself to other writers, but just to have fun and test yourself against the guidelines.
If I haven’t answered a question, or you want any more info, please don’t hesitate to PM me
(Ariadne) and ask. We are always happy to help out.
Happy Writing!
