What a feast of stories!

"Santorini" provides an insight into a short period in the life of Isobelle Carmody, as she travelled to the Greek island of Santorini and worked towards finishing Little Fur.

All of the royalties made from sales of the Kids' Night In books are donated to the charity War Child. Following are the first paragraphs of the sneak peek of "Santorini", which was previously available on the Kids' Night In site:

"Every second year I live in an apartment behind the Modern Art Museum in Prague in Eastern Europe. Every other year I live on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria.

"This is the second year and Prague is lovely in autumn. The light is a rich golden syrup and the air, thick and soft. There are mists that wreath the battered stonework of the lovely old streets giving them a melancholy beauty. But I find myself thinking of Santorini Island.

"I was invited there with my six-year-old daughter, Adelaide; we are both enchanted by the idea, having pored endlessly over two books of photographs of Greek Island cats. Of course, Santorini would be more than those stark, lovely white houses and walls, the blue sea and a draping of languid cats. But such specific visions have always drawn me to travel..."
