I believe that dreams are a mix of things. Sometimes they can tell the future, some times they play on your fears, your last thought before falling asleep, your hopes, your dreams, etc. Different dreams have different meanings and origination's. I do not believe dreams meanings can be covered in one sentence, they are too widespread.
i think that dreams have a meaning, well more than one meaning. Dreams are different factors all mixed together and you need to try to figer them out.
ok i think dreams are a mix of things which i shall make a list of just because i dont want to do anything else
dreams are:
1. things that you wish would/could happen
2. a way to sort out what happened throughout the day
3. a warning
ill shall continue this later when i can think of more example/ideas

My definition of a dream is your brain's interpretation of your desires and needs.

I agree with most of the above. I think dreams (or nightmares rather) can plague you when you're consciously or subconsciously troubled.
My Mum said to me one day that dreams are things we want to do or go to. For example, I dreamed of having a sleepover with my best friend 1000kilometres away while also visiting my grandma also 1000kilometres away.
But my old teacher said that dreams are things that are in the back of your mind and only when everything else is asleep do you think about them and make a dream.
Dreams are strange things.
I believe that all dreams have different meanings. Some dreams might be warnings, others might make you dream about something fictional from your imagination. The dreams I have are mainly about my imagination making up stuff that I would like to happen but I know it won't happen. But, I don't take dreams too seriously and I don't think you are really supposed to.
I think dreams can just be things you fear or want, but I believe dreams tell you something that will happen in the future. I had a dream and the next day it came true.seems weird, but it's true.
I agree with Adelie. and also I think that they can change your future because if you change a decision because of a dream which changed your thoughts on something it could be different to if you didn't dream it.
I think it would be hard to change your future based on a dream because how do you know which one is the 'special' dream. and it is also hard to say because what about by THINKING you have changed the future you are actually doing what is to be. I don't know if that made any sense, it gets really confusing!
I think it's really just a mixture of all of the above. I think that what has happened during the day, and what happened just before you fell asleep, are key factors, as well as what has been on your mind for the last week or so. Some can act as warning, but for me, most dreams aren't as clear cut as that in their purposes.
I think that dreams are like a gateway 2 your subconcious and reflect everything that youve been thinking doing wanting...
I'm with a bunch of people on here: dreams are a mix. Some are truedreams, some are interpretations of your day, some are fantasticalentertainment. Some, I think, reveal your inner self, and even more so, you subconcious fears, likes, dislikes, wishes, etc. I also believe some are...sent. Sent by...something (prolly depends on religion). Some may be sent by the deceased, to tell you something important, some may even be sent by other, living people.
And I think some are meant to be told. I once had a dream, a long dream, where it was basically telling a story. When I woke up, I had the odd chance of remembering almost every detail of the dream, and I had the distinct impression I was meant to tell the story to others.
