I found an interesting bit that I didn't pay much attention to before. It's to do with the Entina. On p484, Bila mentions that "No one lives who enters the pit" during one of the dreams of Matthew. There's also a bit that mentions that 'the Gadfians awoke the beast, and they speak of it with reverence and worship it."
I don't know why but this passage makes me think that the Entina is a machine that the Gadfians found and 'woke' like INES was woken after she was put to sleep. If there was a machine like the Zebrakn that could hurt via the mind, why not a machine that could physically hurt as well? No one who went into the pit came out, and it would explain why the beast doesn't leave the pit.
And there's a bit on p638 that is repeated throughout the books in dreams, but we keep hearing more about the tunnel or the dripping noise, I think this is the first mention of yellow light:
"...I was alone in a dark tunnel... water falling into water. Then I saw a yellowish flash of light."
Just reminds me of the INES complex, how there's a different light for each floor. And it's probably been discussed in the theory threads but I can never read all of the posts in them :P , but the dark tunnel reminds me of a Beforetime complex and the dripping could mean that the complex is under the water and since it's been left to it's own devices it's slowly crumbling away and the roof isn't sturdy enough to keep the constant dribble of water out.
EDIT: I almost forgot: Swallow! "Sometimes success demands a certain refined insanity." <3
I kept getting Rushton being captured in TKP and in the Stone Key confused, I kept waiting for him to rage and go crazy at Elspeth and it didn't happen :P
Interesting theory about Etina being a kind of INES. Your description of it definitely makes me think it's somewhere she has to go on her quest, Ariel always appears to her in a tunnel doesn't he?
