YAY!!! *gruggles Torchwood thread*
Paul and I watched the first two episodes tonight. I've gotta say I'm really, really impressed. Captian Jack is his old self, with his funky brown wrist thingamajig, and the other characters are all awesome.
And I've just gotta say...I LOVE the Doctor Who references in it!! There's one or two obvious ones, but a couple of REAL good references that are trickier to pick up. Some things that only Doctor Who fans will understand (the...the...*waits*).
Now, down to the big question: will it be shown anywhere outside the UK?...I went to bbc.co.uk/torchwood, and they have content filters for people outside the UK!! For "rights reasons" - does that mean they're not releasing it outside the UK, or they are but they can't show anyone else the information until it's been bought by other countries?
Probably the latter.
How have you watched the first two episodes? The second one isn't being broadcast till this sunday! Or was it that the 2 hour pilot ep was broken into two halves?
I watched the pilot today!
It's great! I'm just so excited to be watching something similar to Dr Who in its off season! I love the more darker feel it has about it, they did a good job!
*grugs Captain Jack* Isn't he a spunk!
I noticed a few of the Dr Who references. [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif" alt=":D" border="0"/> I'm downloading the 2nd ep now off my brother, can't wait to watch it!
Maybe Aussie tv's will have to wait as long for Torchwood as they did for Dr Who... Which wasn't too long, so lets keep our fingers crossed.
YAY!!! Em has torchwood!!
So, Em/Kangaruth/Do/Lucy, Ep 2!
Yes, so, it's all to do with s.e.x...but I reckon that was just their way of saying "oh, we're an adult program..."
The thing I LOVED with Episode 2 was THE HAND!!!
It was the Doctor's, wasn't it? From when the Sycorax chopped it off! Because, when Jack's looking at it, he's all sad and the music switches to a (piano) rendition of the Doc Who theme!
I wonder how Jack got it?
Well, I missed the Wed night second showing, so might have to scrounge from someone *flutters eyelashes at DO*
I'm so proud of myself for posting in this thread but not clicking on the spoilers [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/>
Well, i've just watched the first three episodes last night (the first two were shown back to back), and i must say i throughly enjoyed it!
The first episode was particularly mysterious, and introduced everyone, and revealing that the killer was a member of Torchwood was an interesting twist. Don't overlook the weevil either. They will be back in future episodes.
The second episode was interesting (seemingly catering to Captain Jacks pansexual nature)and gave a different slant on the story (similar stories to this have been done in Angel and The X-Files). It showed Gwen starting to assert her will and experience on the team.
Min: I completely overlooked the significance of the hand! Admittedly i was half asleep when watching the episodes.
The third episode was very enjoyable and the flashbacks were interesting. I suspect that the device will make another appearence.
Captain Jack in this series is slightly different from his character in Dr Who.
He's angrier and willing to sacrifice people. His goal was to enjoy life until he died, which he did. Then he was brough back to life by Rose, and was then abandoned on the space station.
Throughout the series we should find out more about Jacks past; how he got back from the space station to present day, where he is actually from (it was hinted that he was a US serviceman that dissapeared in 1941), and why he is missing some of his memory.
Lucy: I should be able to copy the episodes from VHS to DVD tomorrow, so if you e-mail me your address, i'll send them to you.
The third episode was very interesting - Jack seemed very, very angry at the beginning for some reason, didn't he?
I hope we do find out more about Jack. From the episode guide, it certainly looks like we will...particularly near the end of the series. How he got back from Satellite 5, where he was originally from, etc.
Now,
NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE!!! OMG!!!! I can't wait!!
*orders new ! key for keyboard*
CYBERS!!
Yeah, next weeks episode does look good!
I wouldn't expect al of the questions surrounding Jack to be answered in the first series. I'd also expect the series to end on one hell of a cliff-hanger!
I read an interview with Russel T Davies a little while ago. He mentioned that episode 6 (Countrycide) will be very scary, and that one of the following episodes would have one of the scariest opening scenes shown on television. Should be interesting.
They have been very secretive about episodes 12 & 13, so im looking forward to watching them.
I've a feeling about those 2 eps...12 + 13. In the episode guide I posted above, it says 13 isn't going to be aired until July 07, so I'm guessing the cliff hanger will be the end of 12?
I'll put this in a spoiler in case not everyone's read the episode guides.
The ep guide talks about going back to the blitz, right? I've a feeling that Jack's going to go full circle, somehow. Has Barrowman signed on for the next season of Torchwood? What if he goes back to the Blitz with the others in ep 12, and thus begins his journey - again - with the Doctor (9) and Rose? Dunno...
Bring on more Torchwood, I've loving it! [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif" alt=":D" border="0"/>
For the moment i don't think there will be any crossovers between Dr Who and Torchwood, as Torchwood is trying to establish itself as its own series.
As far as i'm aware, all 13 episodes should be aired weekly, with 13 being no exception. I guess we'll have to wait and see
Holy crap! That was a bit blimmin' intense!
Ok, none of this will make any sense if you havent seen ep 4 (and I really didn't wanna spell the plotline out) but I needed to *squuuuuuuueeeee* about it!!
Agh, Captain Jack is a bit hot and cold with his emotions. We are so gonna find out more about him in the next episode; apparently the girl he was in love with is in it. Got to see him nearly die few more times this ep! I can't decide whether I like him or not...
Oooo, Gwyn is a total ho. She should dump her boyf, because he seems so nice, and she's out there kissing everyone she can get her hands on! Meh!
I thought it was really weird to hardly se anything at all of Yoshi (ok, that's not his name, but the smart Welsh dude) and then suddenly have an episode that pretty much revlves around him. I'm really surprised that he's still in it - after this I really thought he was gonna die or at least be fired.
It's so good! I think I'm way more into it than I was a few eps into Dr Who [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif" alt=":o" border="0"/>
I shall watch episode 4 when i get home. Just finished work.. [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/sad.gif" alt=":(" border="0"/>
No way!! I thought you were online for a long time. I kinda though you must've left your machine on or something. Well, the ep should cheer you up [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/> *grugs*
<Random thought> There should so be a musical ep of Torchwood...John Barrowman's voice is far too yummy not to</Random thought>

[img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif" alt=":o" border="0"/> That would be BLOODY AWESOME!!
Must...not...click...the spoiler...
We're watching it tonight...I can't wait, your outside-spoiler bits make it sound awesome!!
Re Doc Who VS Torchwood - I think I'm enjoying Torchwood as much as Doctor Who, but on totally different levels. DW is so innocent and fun, and Torchwood is like the harsh reality of what dealing with alien stuff (when you don't have the Doc's brain full of information to utilise) would be like...sometimes drab, difficult, confusing, deadly, scary, etc.
I love it though that Jack is searching for the Doctor (or at least said he was) - it's like he's trying to get back to the innocent fun times he had those days...if that makes any sense!
*gruggles both programs*
I think it just took me longer t get into Dr Who than Torchwood, which is strange, considering there are more regular characters to get to know.
Perhaps that ep wasn't actually that good and I got a little overexcited considering I hadn't actual been out of the house that day and had been on my own!
I like the theory of Jack trying to snatch hold of the inocent days again...*sigh*
*goes to start petition for musical ep*
Watched ep 4!
BLOODY HELL!! That was scary, and so sad!! What is their assistant dude's name by the way? I was sure he was going to die, or be fired, as well. But no - the end, there he is, just still picking up everyone elses [censored]...it doesn't seem very fair... [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/cry.gif" alt=":'(" border="0"/>
But that was just crazy...what the hell is with Gwen, btw?!
I can't wait to find out more about Jack. He's so evasive about questions about his past, it make you *have* to know more about him.
*joins Lucy in petitioning for a musical episode*
Well, i watched ep 4
It seemed like a good episode, but just seemed to be lacking something. It could be that i was tired after a 14 hour day at work, but i just couldn't really relate to Ianto and the pain he was going through. The times he was crying i just kept thinking 'get it over with!' I think as we haven't really seen much of him in the series so far, it wasn't maybe the best time to tell that particular story.
The episode was a good episode though. When Toshiko was trying to unlock the doors and escape from the advancing pseudo-cyberman, i kept willing her to succede. The tension was good, and its now interesting to see how the other characters react to Jack after realising that he is immortal
I'd only agree with a musical episode of Torchwood if Joss Wheddon could produce it. He did a wonderful job with the Buffy musical episode 'Once More With Feeling', and wrote the music and lyrics for every song!

I've seen the first two episodes and MY GOD it's brilliant! *hugs Jack* I'm watching the next two tonight, and i can't wait.
Don't you love the colour filters they've been using? The use of red and green is just spiffy, i've been having so much fun watching the way they present people. I'm starting to think that green is innocent...
But anyway, i love how they've made the nighttime streets look like veins.
oush, it's just brilliant. Not as good as Doctor Who, but still great. Can't wait for tonight. [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/> Then i'll be able to look under all those spoilers. Such a task not to.
HUZZUH!!!! Flit has Torchwood!!!
I haven't noticed the colour filters!! I'll have to keep an eye on how they use the filters in the future..
Did you notice THE HAND!!! That was my fave part ever (in my less-favourite ep so far [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/>)
