Ok so it's not quite a complete cast but I've been stewing over this for some time and have come up with a few actors who I think would be suitable for the roles.
To start off with I'm going to explain the reason I decided to cast who I cast. You'll notice going through it that most of the actors are Australian. I made this concious decision right at the beginning because I reasoned that if an Obernewtyn film were to be made it would undoubtedly be picked up by an Australian Film Company. America and England have practically never heard of Obernewtyn so there is absolutely no chance that a foreign Film Company would ever even consider making these films. That said, while an Australian Film Company would be the only one likely to ever consider an Obernewtyn film that doesn't mean that the *entire* cast would be comprised of Australians, just the majority so I have included a few international actors (mostly just supporting roles) who I just thought were too perfect for the role to pass up.
Ok *inhale* here we go.
Elspeth:
Freya Stafford.
Australian actress, possibly a little too old as she's almost 30 however she has a youthful and naive appearance as well as essence. Recently she played (to perfection) Miranda in Bell Shakespeare's newest production of "the Tempest". TV work includes "Head Start", "White Collar Blue" and the made for TV movie "Hell has harbour views". Below are links to some pictures. I'm sorry I couldn't find any better ones.

Henry Caville.
Not my idea, but he grew on me. He's one of the few non-Australians. He's not *exactly* as I imagined Rushton (more pretty, less gruff) but I can't think of anyone better. Below are pics.

Me.
Shameless I know, but I want this role and I know I'd be good in it so I'm not going to cut myself short.
I've had years of acting experience, nothing in film or TV though (unless short films count) and currently work as a fashion model. Below are pics.

Kurt Phelan.
Singer/Dancer/Actor from Australia last year starred in "all he needs" the winner of the insight 300 seconds short film competition and where he first grabbed my attention. His character in this film is loving and sincere, convincingly portrayed by Kurt. I could find no pictures of him but below is a link to "all he needs" on youtube where you can download the film to see for yourself (don't worry, it's only about 4 and a half minutes long)

Abe Forsythe
Australian actor, most recently seen in the miniseries "tripping over" but earned recognition before that in the tv series "Always Greener", made for tv movie "Marking Time" and the film "Ned", a parody of the Ned Kelly legend which he wrote and directed himself. below are pics

Domick:
Tom Long
Has been working in the Australian film and TV world for a number of years now, holding supporting roles in films such as "the Dish" and "Two Hands". Earlier this year he held the lead role in "the Book of Revelation" a critically acclaimed indie film telling the story of a young dancer who is kidnapped by three masked women and subjected to all number of sexual and psychological torture and how he is unable to relate to another human being after he's released. I saw Domick's estrangement from the rest of the misfits mirrored in this role and as Tom Long is such a talented actor and even looks the part I thought he'd be best.

Brooke Satchwell.
I was a little hesitant about putting Brooke up as she seemed too much of an obvious and convenient choice for Kella, however as she's a competant actor and looks almost exactly how I imagined the character I figured to hell with it. Brooke has been on Neighbours, White Collar Blue, Water Rats, most recently as a regular guest star on "tripping over" (playing Abe Forsythe's girlfriend no less) and even previously held a place as a presenter on Play School.

Brydda Llewellyn:
Abraham BenRubi.
For me, Brydda always has been and always will be Abraham. No one could ever come close to accurately portraying him in my mind. I know my interpretation of Brydda is unpopular but I don't care. This is my list.

Adrian Grenier.
One of the very few Americans on this list, I know he's impractical but gosh darn it he's just so adorable. He has eyes that literally make me weak at the knees without having features that are classically good looking and I feel this is an important feature for Daffyd to have. His big break was in "the adventures of Sebastien Cole" and he went on to score the leading role in the immensely successful tv series "Entourage" and a supporting role in "the Devil wears Prada".

Patrick Bauchau
What can I say? He's a class act. He has the perfect amount of menace, class and presence needed for Malick. He also looks the part perfectly. Need I say more?

Miryum:
Madeleine Neill
A close friend of mine and an incredibly talented actor, she's appeared in many plays and productions from Canberra as well as the odd commercial or two. Apart from her talent in acting I think Madeleine has the perfect look for Miryum, an interesting mix of a strong, solid body shape and a disarmingly attractive face with piercing eyes. To me she looks exactly like the beautiful girl who could easily think herself plain and have others believe the same due to her less than conventionally beautiful body shape.
(sorry I'm robbing her myspace as I have no other photos of her)

Gillaine/Erin:
Amber LeStrange.
model/actor from Australia, she's a talented and passionate actor and has a perfectly even mix of sensitivity and natural beauty for Gillaine. She's also very versatile and could easily pull of the smaller role of Erin as well.

And that about does it for my wonder cast. I'm sure there are others that I've forgotten but at the moment I don't really care.
