Here's a little item i wrote as a memory exercise for uni.
When I was just a little kid
My Grandpa called me Billy Lid
The holidays and some weekends
would find us on the river's bend
Gone Fishin'
We'd grab our lunch and fishin' poles
Some bait; then pray with all our souls
That fish wouls bite, but mozzies not
As we sit at our favourite spot
Gone Fishin'
As I grew older, so did he
Skin like the bark of some old tree
But still he liked to, now and then
Pretend that we were younger men
Gone Fishin'
Now Grandpa's gone through heaven's gate
I feel like I lost my best mate
I wonder how he spends his days
And picture up a sign that says
Gone Fishin'

Thanks guys. I will hopefully post up a few more bits that I've written in my creative writing unit the past few weeks. Just gotta find time to type them all up.
They're all really good, Deb. Amazing, especially some of the first poems. Some actually brought me to tears lol.
And I was looking at one on page 2 and you said it was 1983. Yep-way before I was born.
Oh,I'm feeling like a kid now.
Really, really good. (The poems, not the feeling)

Thought I should blow the dust off my thread and post up something. so here goes:
If I met a clown 1982
If I met a clown
I think I would be very glad
Unless of course the clown was sad
Then I would be unhappy too
I would like to meet a happy clown
Doing funny tricks
And making all the children laugh
The clown would be wearing baggy trousers
And big floppy shoes
And a little hat that he would take off when he meets me
His shirt would have red spots
And he would have a big red nose
His smile would be so big
That the whole world could see it

A sappy love poem I wrote in 1982 :P
Although I never knew his name
Things could never be the same
For when he left, my heart went too
Can’t someone tell me what to do
He came one night in winter’s arms
I was subjected to his charms
But then when summer came around
My love was nowhere to be found
He must have found his way back home
And now again I am alone
He may return, I pray he will
For I do dearly love him still
And maybe as the seasons change
My love, my life will come again

and another that was written more recently :P
Reaching for heaven
Must feel like this
Your heart’s desire
In loves first kiss
The time you spent
Dreaming of the life
You’ll have together
As husband and wife
The day arrives
To make your choice
Proclaim your love
In the sweetest voice
OMG!!!! THAT IS SOOOOOOO COOOL!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!
They're all brilliant, deb. :-"
