I think it would make a spectacular movie....possibly a movie per book. If I had the right kind of financial backing, I'd approach IC about it.
Think of it - it'd rival LOTR! It might not be as widely known, but it's a genre that's popular atm. You guys have some pretty great avatars of current stars that look PERFECT for the roles.

if you look in the theories board you will find a whole lot of information on movies and characters and the whole thing.
Ok, thanks :) There's a lot to look at - I just hadn't gotten to that yet :)
I agree mythicafrog! I'm re-reading all the books and everytime I do I think how awesome it would be. I can see it all in my head.
It'd be great if it was done similar to LOTR, It'd be awful if someone did it and absolutely butchered it.
Nice to meet you!
Ober would be much better than LOTR IMO.
LOTR is your typical story of good and evil and of power - and it is in a fantasy world of mythical creatures.
Ober is much more rooted in reality - it is about survival, it is about a coming-of-age, and the struggle to fit in to a harsh community.
I think the themes that Ober deals with can be much easily related to.
Whilst Elspeth is the protagonist and it is ultimately about her quest - I think the soul of the story is the Obernewtyn community and its social structure. Whilst the rest of the community sees the misfits as monsters, yet the misfit community at Obernewtyn are much more humane than all the other social groups.
The Obernewtyn community is idealistic too I think - because everyone lives for each other - and there are virtually none in the misfit community who will betray their brethren for self benefit, compared to our modern society, most people mainly think of self benefit.
If it ever gets made into a movie, the script and acting would be much more important than special effects.
However, a TV series with a decent budget would be good, as a movie will leave out a lot of the story I feel. And Obernewtyn is not a story that requires expensive special effects - so a TV budget should be okay.
