So here are a selection of some of my really early designs for Madam Vega from the first novel (well the only one she actually is physically in).
I did these early on in my OC obsession and almost forgot all about them. Luck I found my old journals as a few of the coloured images were originally created in oil paints on untreated paper, so the oil is bleeding around the image and won't last.
The images are based on the references made in the book but with a little artistic license. The Owl Jacket was an example of how I like to assign animal totems to characters as a way of developing their style. I thought an Owl fitting for Vega in terms of suggesting her intelligence and predatory nature, and natural elegance. It be great to make that costume one day :)
MV is portrayed as a highly calculating and manipulative woman who can easily disarm people with her beauty and sophistication. I always imagined her as this incredibly tailored, colourful and artificial woman in a would more accustom to drab, natural fibres. She's the embodiment of an old capitalist ego, beautiful and treasonous.
Love to here your thoughts and how other people envision her :)
