Haha, you flatter me. |:(
Actually, when I wrote my earlier explanation that description is what I would see if Elspeth was say deep probing someone looking for some information, or coercing them. Say if Elspeth was farseeking over long distances...
I've always kind of pictured it that if that were to be the case we would be able to see in Elspeth's mind as she does it. If she's traversing across the land, we would see flashes of the land her mind is scouring over and then when she makes mental contact with the person in question, she would perhaps visualise in her own mind who she is talking too, and I suppose us as the viewer would also see her conversing.
I just picture a lot of shots cutting back and forth between 'inside' Elspeth's mind (which incidentally to me involves a lot of layered, watermarked pictures), and what her physical form is actually doing.
If that makes sense :P
Mindspeak, say just around the place, at Obernewtyn I could see them pulling it off by just having the characters sit there, have facial expressions but not actually moving their mouths. Instead they are talking in their minds and what we hear is a voice over of the character's voice, but slightly distorted/mellowed to signify that it is all thought speech.

Wanderer: Interesting. :-| Though I must admit I'm a little concerned about what you would put in such a venture.
I suppose it comes down to taking out what people love about Obernewtyn and being able to portray it well in the series.
I could see it going in a couple of ways either:
- as you said, taking a whole new plot but just set in the Ober world or,
- the chronicles portrayed through the eyes of another. Say for example a commoner who doesn't realise they are a misfit. What life would be like living in that world, finding out what they really are. Then seeing say the rebellion happen and it becomes known that people like themselves exist and are normal.
If that were to happen, I have to say I would still love to see appearances of our favourite characters. Of course, chances are you're never gonna get the character right - but I could see perhaps this new character seeing Elspeth in awe, even though she comes off as a bit cold. Etc. etc.
I can see both pros and cons. Pros because it is a new plot, people are probably less likely to have qualms about the production not staying true to the story. Cons being that what people
do want to see a portrayl of the books, and don't really care much about life for others on the Land, all they wanna see is Elspeth destroy those Weaponmachines!
But hey - that's life, you can't please everyone.
