I personally think that the BBC would do a far better job then Hollywood ever could of an IC book.
I've always thought in the back of my head that the ABC should do a mini series of The Gathering. With the right casting and a good script adaptation, I think it could work :)
NEMO you took the words out of my mouth.
I read Eragon and then watched hte movie, it was so bad, i couldn't bring myself to finish reading the series....
I hope they never make a movie... it couldn't possible potray the books or the characters properly, plus it owuld ruin the books if the movies were bad, you owuld always have the images from the crap movie come to mind.
back on the eragon subject, i have read all three books and i really enjoyed them, but then i started watching LOTR and i had already seen starwars and stuff and it really bugs me now because i can see what has happened yet is still enjoy reading them! Grr, i can't make up my mind!
I think a movie would be interesting but it would prob wreak the book, becuase you always remember parts of the movie while you read a book! i think a mini series wouldn't work because there is nearly always a resouloution near the end of episodesa and it doesn't really suit the books.
I would love for a move to be made of Obernewtyn, but I'm also apprehensive as to whether it would work or not, as everyone has been saying...
I love Eragon, and also thought the movie was pretty terrible. One thing that always annoyed me was how close Eragon and Arya are in the movie, when she is supposed to be really distant and cold to him until much later - not to mention the fact that she is supposed to be in a coma until they get to the Varden and he only speaks to her once in her mind! OK. Now that rant is over...
I haven't read Lord of the Rings but really like the movies - I love Legolas and Faramir (I love both the actors in other movies I love as well).
Taril, i get what you mean, so it would be like a massive chain of to be continued episodes. I guess, if they did it that way, it could work. But i think the main problem is that it would be even harder for them to stick to the main story if they broke it up.
i would like to see the first one as a 2.5/3 hr movie i think with a good script and actors it could work as long as it isnt made into a big Hollywood block buster
i think it would be easer as it has less human-animal dialogue which would be hard to do
the second book doesnt really have a movie story line to it but it could work
the 3rd and 4th could work but some things would have to be removed like the harry potter movie
the 5th book would have to be split up into two movie just as it is published in the usa which would work as the story sort of reaches a resolution about 1/2 way though
i assume the 6th book would be similar to the 5th one
the hardest part would be the human-animal dialogue, and making it interesting as it would just be almost look like a person looking at an animal IMHO the other hard thing would be getting the animals to do what is needed
i dont like the idea of a tv series unless it has a definite end like the oliver twist series made by bbc as aposed to the deadly series made by some one in australia ( i cant think off the top of my head) if it was to do that the first two books would be to short the 3rd, 4th and 5th book would work as a series each i think with maybe 5-7 episodes each (maybe 1hr episodes ?) so more of a mini series.
i would like to see it made by an australian film company how ever a bigger film industry might be a better option as they would have more funding and technology
i believe LOFR was a good representation of the books, harry potter was a miserable failure, the best book to film i have read/seen is the godfather almost every page is in the 2 movies and if OC was to become a movie thats how i would like it to be made
anyway thats my two cents
(i didnt read page 2 so i hope i have said anything again :P )
