Maybe if we all send an email to penguin we might get some results. Min it might be worth putting a note on the home page to see how many here want the book. I know i do and i'm sure a lot of others do as well.
Ohh, my advice is to look in second hand book shops. I managed to find one just randomly when I looked at the other IC books in one. I'm sure the shop assistant and my friend thought I was a bit insane, the way I was jumping around in happiness.
But yes, it would be really great if they were reprinted =) And this is my fave IC book! ^_^

Actually, yes, that'd be good deb. Maybe once Moonfair's (well and truly) over we can put together something like a petition where we can get numbers of people who'd like to see it reprinted? I got the indication from the email Penguin replied initially that the number of people we had interested in it would have some sway on the outcome...

Thanks for checking that Min. What would we do, send out a PM to all our members? How about contacting one of the current affair programs to maybe get some publicity of the new book and intrest in getting GMD reprinted? I'd like to see an Aussie author getting the cheers for a change.
That's a good idea, Deb. (Oh, I'm interested by the way lol.) Maybe first put a thread up here to see how many people put their names down to get an idea as well as send the PM.
Wayla's offered to start a petition to get this rolling, so I'm sure she'll let us know when it's up; we can PM everyone then, etc.
I'm sure if Penguin saw enough people interested they'd do something about it :) they've been really nice to everyone so far when answering questions and helping out and just offering support in general [act]points to bookmarks[/act].
<3 Thanks to everybody who has signed the petition so far. We are beginning to see some international signatures, too. Keep spreading the word!!
I signed it even though I haven't read it - I want to!
lol I'm the same Cat-Eyes, I haven't read it, but I'd love to, and if its a IC book it should be in print! we need to support Aussie authors! this is great guys well done!!
It's strange because even some second hand bookshops don't even have it, so it's really hard to get them. Thankfully I got mine from the school library when they were getting rid of heaps of books (I was most outraged that they would actually consider getting rid of it anyway.....) and so it's old, but reasonably good condition. I would really like it reprinted though (personally I wouldn't buy it because I like my book enough), but I'm sure many people would benefit, as it's simply a tragedy that it's out of print.
[/end rant]
Oh my lud, it's out of print?! I'm a bit late here, but I didn't know that either. It's my favourite book of all time apart from the Book Theif by Markus Zusak.
I read it a couple of years ago. The library has it and sometimes the library gives old books to my Dad who works there so I was hoping I could get it from him when they don't want it anymore but since it's out of print they'd want to hang on to it. And more people loved it than I thought. |:|
Hmm I wander if they have put it back in print because recently (and Im talking with the last month) I went to a bookshop in sydney and they had a copy on the shelf. I think it was roughly $25?? And it has a new cover all white and orange -_- I think....
Ahh that would be it then :rolling:
