We're all designers and we all use different programs, resources and methodologies in completing our designs. This thread is intended to help us in pooling our wide variety of resources, that we take for granted day to day in achieving our design intent. Post away, and we'll update the list as we go. Add any resources you use that you wish to share; from multimedia to illustration to print, to design in general.
Stock Photo Sites
Stock.xchng - quite a lot of free-for-non-commercial-use photos, search facility works well.
Fonts websites
Dafont.com - loads of free fonts, logical categorisation, and great search engine.
FontFreak.com - 5000-odd fonts, takes a few clicks to actually get to the main section of the site though.
Adobe Flash
Flashkit.com - fantastic resource of tutorials and free downloadable templates, sound bytes, etc.
This program is much more suitable for people that have ether used Adobe Photoshop of Corel Paint and does not open multiply windows as the Gimp does.
The other thing to note is that it is still in development and does not have support for some features of other programs (such as layer support for .psd files) but it can support pen tablets (WACOM :D) and various other things. I suggest that people give it a shot :D
I have a few photoshop brush websites that i recently came across. Wasn't entirely sure if i should add them to Min's post or not so i figured that I'll put them in a new post :P
Designfruit~ Not sure if all of these are free but they have some nice brushes. And a few high rez ones for anyone doing larger scale print designs.
GetBrushes.com Has quite a few brushes on here. All are supposed to be free. In particular interest to me was this set of 200 brushes. You heard me, 200! ~Link~
And last but not least Obsidian Dawn has a few lovely brushes. My favorite is the sparkle brushes. These i believe are mostly not for commercial use unless a license is purchased.
Oh and before i forget about it Deviant Art has HEAPS of Photoshop and Illustrator brushes as well!
I swear by ~Link~ This site is great for stock textures and images for doing photoshop manipulations, etc. Especially good for people who need high resolution images
In case anyone's missed it (this is as good a thread as any to plug it): we have an Obernet deviantART group here: ~Link~ showcasing not only every piece of IC-related fanart we can find (pending the original artist's approval) but also an ever-growing gallery full of artwork reminiscent of IC's worlds, for inspiration and such.
