I just wanted to say that I think both teams are doing really well. I think we're all doing a good job of working together and coming up with arguments.
A bit of a pointless post, but I felt like I needed to get this thread going. :P

I'd just like to voice my appreciation of the Affirmative teamwork, they have a harder stance to debate, (in my opinion) and their teamwork could bring them out on top.

I'm going with the concensus, both teams are doing a great job.
There is hard work being put in on both sides, and banter between the teams on both boards.
Its obvious from the comments that we are competing (and aiming to win) but there isnt any malice in the comments.

I agree that both teams are doing a great job :D
I think it might be a good idea though, if for the next debate we could implement a time restriction on posting the reply - long enough that the debate doesn't finish early but short enough that we devote equal amounts of time to each reply. There are enough of us here that we can just pleasantly remind the other team so no moonfairy needs to be worried about being time keeper.

Ok the third speech for the negative team is now finalised. There wasn't that much of a change, just a few additions and minor edits, so now the debates can continue.

If we go over the character limit in our post, can we have two posts? I'm a bit too verbose for my own good... (I was Debating Captain, we had 6 minute speeches, I write a lot!) If there's a word limit I'm going to have to do some serious culling to the bits I've written...

Hehe, yeah, I was thinking the same thing on the word limit - I hope it's high or that there isn't one - but either way I figured it's better to know beforehand! :P I like the idea of possibly using two posts if we need it - it is a fairly complicated theory to need to put together!
Oh, and I agree that the thread has to be open before the closing date, but I figured we've got a couple of days yet, and I imagine it's opening soon! :P

Could you please limit your posts to 700 words. That is rather long in itself, and we don't want people to have essays to go through.
As succinct and persuasively as possible will probably work in your favour.

Lud, I write WAY too much, I've never was good at succinct. Just the bits I've written (which is about half of the points but probably most of the words as the other two are probably a lot better than I am at writing less) is about double that...

Sorry Moonfairies, but is there any chance of making it 1000 words for all of the teams? 700 is going to be really hard when we need to provide proof from the text... :-/ (Or maybe we can make it so that the quotes don't contribute to the word count? |:| It works for Uni!)
Is it better if we have direct quotes or just paraphrase and hint to events?
Hmm, if I find actualy quotes and they're not counted I can reduce my words without reducing the argument as much! :P Gah, now I have to find actual quotes... *goes to get books*
