Posts above by Maruman32 and Moondream have been removed - guys, I don't think it's particularly safe to be talking about specific locations + schools / where you live online :-/ just be careful, hey?
Oops sorry, thanks for looking out for me/us Min. I'll/we'll try to think a bit more before we post :P Thanks ;)
I Do not see obernewtyn like that maybe some day I will draw it a submit what I think it looks like .
I don't really see it like that either but if you think about it, a 14 year old writing a story. Castle in her area would probably be an interesting thing to write about. The name changed slightly probably because she didn't want it to be that place. Just guessing really. ::)

That's a good point, but I've also seen a few places which are literally called Obernewtyn...might be an 'o' between the 't' and 'n', but definitely written with a 'b'.
Ok, I gotta say it is close..The names I mean.
If Isobelle did base Obernewtyn on this, she didn't like the door.
If you follow the link and go to the photo gallery there's a picture of the door.
Also, I pictured Obernewtyn with flat roofs...sort of medievial style.
But thats just my thoughts... ::)
I also pictured Obernewtyn to be more of a medievial style, and less of a Tudor-style castle. Actually, if you hadn't told me that was a castle, I would have guessed it was just a mansion. *rolls eyes at "just a mansion".*
Although the similarities between the names is a pretty big coincidence.
Haha I imagined Obernewtyn to be rather gothic styled . . . and a lot lot bigger but that is still pretty awesome though. :)

It's a real possibility.
I've always imagined Obernewtyn as an old large grey-stone castle.
The website says '. . .scottish baronial style castle. . .' and in the books Obernewtyn was thought to be in 'Old Scotia' during the beforetime.\
I've also heard of a road and a school called 'Overnewtyn'
Oh yeah. I personally think the name was based on 'Overnewton'. But Either way, this castle looks sooooo cute and cosy. And Isobelle Carmody is an absolute GENIUS!
