Hi everyone - welcome to the Legendsong Discussion Forum!
As evidenced by the name, this forum is for discussion of all things Legendsong. Theories, thoughts, questions, favourite characters, things you loved/hated - whatever you like. ;D
The existing Legendsong discussion threads have been moved to this forum, but please feel free to start new, more direct discussions as well, now that we have a proper place for them!
Please note: threads in this forum will most likely contain spoilers for both Darkfall and Darksong.
Gosh, now that the Sending is near it's sending date (boom boom) I'm yearning for Darkbane!!!
I can not wait for Darkbane to come out. I have been hooked on the Legendsong books ever since I first read them, when I was twelve. I LOVE THEM! Does anyone know when IC is going to have it completed and published?
I think Isobelle has promised to get back to working on it after The Red Queen comes out so, knowing Isobelle, probably not for several years yet :P
She told my friend and I at the Sydney Writer's Festival that she planned to start working on it late this year, but she also told us that knowing her, that deadline was subject to change lol. I wouldn't hold my breath and then you can't get dissapointed.
True story: I have never reread The Legendsong trilogy since I was 15 and accidentally wrote an ms that riffed off Isobelle's idea. I was mortified. Also, I can't stand the waiting. I refuse to reread till the last book has a confirmed release date ;)
I remember her saying Darkbane is written, though. When she finished Darksong she was still in the zone, so she finished the series. As in, the first draft.
She's just not 'allowed' (lol, you know what I mean) to get onto it full time until she's finished the Ober Chrons, apparently!
^Sorry. I was unclear in the above post. I meant that she was going to start working on it seriously again at the end of this year- in a 'devote all my attention' to it kind of way.
My friend was feeling those words like a mortal blow let me tell you. Legendsong is her favourite series of books ever and she's been waiting for an age. It was especially hilarious since Isobelle had told my friend at the 2009 writers festival that would finish Legendsong soon ;) There should be some kind of internet meme about Carmody release dates :P
I've been waiting about ten years for darkbane to come out. You know if i die before i get the chance to read it i am going to haunt isobelle Carmody or her publishers or whoever is at fault! i will refuse to to "cross to the other side" untill i get to read it! that will be my unfinished business. Sounds like a bad episode of ghost whisperer...

LOL Caterina, I feel the same way. Darkbane has been on my waiting to read list for too many years.
So do we think that now we have an end in sight for OberChron that we should be more hopeful of seeing Darkbane in the next

Hi ashe, last I heard Isobelle didn't want to do two big books back to back and was going to finish off the Gateway Trilogy in-between.
Don't know what happened to the end of my other post but it finished with "the next few years"
Thought something like that might happen just hadn't heard anything about it for a while. Well at least we will all have ability to read OberChron from start to finish in the meantime, however long it takes for Darkbane to be ready. Hoping realistically for within the decade to be honest. Thanks Agyllian :)
Oh no. Is she really going to finish off the Gateway Trilogy instead? Not that I don't like all of her books but the Legendsong Saga is by far my favourite- not just out of IC books but out of every book ever. I had resigned myself to possibly never knowing the ending but I admit that since The Red Queen's release date was announced I have since gotten my hopes up again.

bahahahaha Just when you thought it was all going to be wrapped up. After waiting since 95 for OberChron I can handle another couple of years for Darkbane. I actually made and kept a promise to myself about 5 years ago that I wouldn't start any new IC series/buy any new series/short stories books until Legendsong and OberChron was complete- its not punishment, just a gift to my continued sanity.

At the talk I went to after the release of the Sneding, IC said that she wanted to write Darkbane first, but that she felt like she had to finish the billy thunder and the night gate series first
Well, if she finishes books aimed at a younger reading market first then by the time that Darkbane is released they will be at the ideal age to read it for the first time after they realise how good the writing is.... the rest of us older fans are already hooked anyway.
It seems to me that a Publishing company would encourage decisions like this; which increase a writers market fidelity.
