Solen isn't the Shadownman!!
This is part of a deam Ember has on the way to the fire falls when she is on Iridom.
The martial-arts instructor turned and Ember realised that, after all, it was not Wind, but only someone who looked like him. "I know it sounds like madness, but I do know."
"Even if you are right, entering the palace would be a risk, but to enter the Iridomi compound is madness. If they catch you, you will technically be upon Iridom, and you can be sure they will hand you over to Jurass for execution, but only after Kalide has been at you. What would the Shadowman say to it?"--page 385 Darksong
This is a conversation between Solen and his "burly red-haired companion". This means that Solen is not the Shadowman (pretty poor evidence I know) but his companion does not refer to Solen as the Shadowman. They were talking as if the Shadowman was not there.
I've said it before, I'll say it again:
I think Tarsin is the Shadowman. It's his way of serving his kingdom, while keeping within the mould Coralyn has designated him. It could be why all of the Shadowman's supporters seem to be Darkfall supporters also. How the Soulweavers don't know this...or perhaps they do, and decide to stay silent to keep the ruse up.
I interpret the "What would the Shadowman say to it?" differently again. I see it as him simply reinforcing his point, meaning that the Shadowman would agree with him that it's too dangerous – he doesn't think either he or Solen know who the Shadowman is, he just knows that Solen is an important Shadowman agent, so of course the Shadowman wouldn't want him to stupidly risk his life.I disagree, I think that this is a product of the fact that hardly anyone in the shadow network knows anyone else (or anyone else's roles) in the network Sian"Even if you are right, entering the palace would be a risk, but to enter the Iridomi compound is madness. Plus there are potential copyright issues where fanfic and theories and things are involved. It's the reason most authors don't read this sort of thing. (Imagine if they read something that was exactly what they'd planned to write - even though it was what they'd already intended, it could still influence how they wrote the scene, which could potentially cause legal issues.)deb
Thats one of the reasons she doesn't hang out here very often. She has said that some of our theories are so good that she might end up writing them into the books which would change everything and make the wait longer. :P
