I have to say I love DN, it's bad I know but I just love them . . . I use them all the time in RL dialogue and yeah. I probably annoy a lot of people but :P DEAL WITH IT I SAY! I like to confuse, lets ya know if people are actually paying attention.
'Didn't do nothing' is nearly as stupid as the expression 'could care less' but fortuntaely I don't come across it as much. Usually kids are the only ones who use the 'didn't do nothing' one, not realising that they are actually dobbing themselves in :P

aaaaand- we're back to double negatives... doesn't that make you all feel warm and fuzzy inside? :-" ... :P

Wow, I have some problems with how people completely contradict themselves, or they just state the obvious. For example, I knew this guy who kept yelling, 'I did nothing!' and for some reason it really irked me. How can you do nothing?
Also, my friends (being the tweens they are) always laugh, and then loudly say 'Lol'. It's basically saying 'Laugh... laugh.' And also how people come up to you and say 'I ILY you'. I 'I love you' You?

I hate it when people use net speak in real life, especially 'OMG'. When typing, yes, ok use it, but when you are talking to me...use words for Luds sake! :P
I can put up with most other phrases, being that I'm no so crash hot with english myself, but just not that. I havent had anyone say LOL to me, but I think I would almost want to hit them if they did X:-/

I'll second that Ari. I rarely use net speak, even on the net, though I admit OML! is one I often use and lol in msn where it is appropriate to the conversation. A lot of the folk I chat to online bag me because I type everything out properly and don't do the whole; yer, l8r, thing.

See I wont use- [act]cringes at the thought of typing it[/act] -l8r and yer even to save space in an SMS. However, I do use 'u' and 'c u' etc. but not all the time. I think part of it was that I didnt want to get lazy and start writing like that all the time ( my spelling is bad enough already ;P )

I don't get yer. three letter word right, how is that harder than typing yes????
It's a bit like some of the words my sister and her friends use on MSN. There seems to be a strange craze going around where people add letter to words. I really can't see the point, when you're constantly abreviating words, of then spelling 'me', 'mii'. ???

[act]looks about sheepishly[/act] I do tend to use net speak when I talk, but only when the net speak expresses something that others words just don't fit. For example; lol.
How many people actually laugh out loud when they type that?
When I use the word lol in RL, it means "Sure, I didn't actually laugh at your comment, however I do admit that it was incredibly witty and humerouse, I actually have no idea why I didn't laugh, but here, have some acknowledgement".
For some strange reason, I just don't find it practical to say all of that every time someone says something funny and I happen to not laugh :P

This isn't really a phrase, actually it's just common mispelling of a certain word, but what's really annoying me right now is everyone saying aye. Like, 'That was awesome, aye?' The first time someone said it I could not comprehend why they used a word that seemed so out of place, until I kept seeing used as eh. Everybody seems to use it. WHY don't they KNOW it's spelled EH? EH!!!!
...I'm probably being silly. But anywho. :-|
Aye always gets me thinking of pirates - and Irish accents. o_O
Something that bugs me is the way my Microsoft always tells me (with the little red squiggly line :|) the American spellings of words. It's colour over here, guys! And realised not realized. Sigh... ::) May not be 'irksome phrase' as such, but it is still tedious. There should be an 'Oz-crosoft'.
Lol. I laugh out loud when typing lol - when it's funny, of course. :P
