I think that Solen has to be the youngest though, because he says to Wind's sister that he couldn't think of it being good to not have a mother because his mother died bearing him...unless they're only half siblings, but I would have thought that if his father had bonded again, the mother of his sisters would have been like a surrogate mother to him (like Unys and Coraline). I guess I tend to think of Hella as second because she seems to display symptoms of middle child syndrome.Good point. :P Before that i was thinking of Solen as the oldest or maybe the middle child, but if his mother died giving birth to him then he must be the youngest. :P
I used to think of Solen as being quite a bit older than Glynn (possibly out of habit; Rushton/Elspeth, Domick/Kella, Mathew/Dragon, Dardelan/Bruna, Jak/Seely, Bleyd/Ember, Wind/Glynn)Yes, Isobelles does seem to be fond of older men, doesn't she?

I'm thinking he's a few years older than Glynn, though I think she and Ember are actually closer to 19 than 17.
You're right - at the start of the book the waiter thinks they look about 17, but it's never actually said how old they are, and because Glynna and Ember were left to themselves after their parents died, I figured they had to be old enough for that to be possible. I made a possible vague timeline, though as I said above, it's impossible to be certain of anything... (Oh, and I figured if Glynna was old enough to have a part-time job and get involved with Wind, she had to be at least 15 when she started her martial arts lessons, but I'd prefer to think she was at least 16, given he's quite a bit older... :-/)I seem to remember the books mentioning that both Glynn and Ember are 17. pg; 366, Darksong, second paragraph from the bottom (and because I don't know if the copies with different dimensions have different page numbers or larger text, it's in the segue after chapter 18, so that's just a few pages to the beginning side of the middle)

Do you think it best the boy loses his mother? I do not, and I should know, for my mother died bearing me.
Darkfall page 21: "...A child intoxicated by the glamour of the Misty Isle," Argon snarled. "By the time she is old enough to regret her choice, it will be too late."
Darkfall page 64: "It's her choice!..." Solen had used those words to defend Flay's decision to offer herself to Darkfall, but Argon White Cloak had asked how a child coud even understand what she was choosing.
Darksong p. 161: Glynn's thoughts shifted to Solena nd his younger sister Flay...Probably another reason I thought Flay was younger. though it could mean that Flay is younger than Hella. I'm even more confused now. :P
Darksong p. 294: "She is younger than me..."This is from Hella.
