There are two points from the novels that I think really need elaborating on/theorising about:
The first is the weather on Keltor which is frequently said to require a philosopher to understand it- I just wondered if anyone had any speculations on what this might mean/what some of the philosophical underpinnings of the weird weather patterns might be?
Also I was pondering the idea of the different talents that seem to arise specifically on one island, which seems strange- and how might this relate to the different way the veswood (?) trees grow on the different islands- Would love to hear some thoughts on this...
haha tbh i always passed if off as IC wanting to create completely different atmospheres and climates for each of the islands... and then had to somehow explain it so she just put it down to something too complicated to explain...... but you could be right in thinking its got a theory behind it!
but if it did, how could it get explained? it would be tricky to somehow relate back to the text in a meaningful way.

The different weather conditions on the different Islands could be as simple as their location. We have colder weather the closer you get to the poles and hot weather near the equator.
I;m thinking that the fact that each of the islands has its own skill is no stranger than the peole looking different. After all, before Lanalor Vespi was the only island capable of having contact with any of the others. This would be why Ramidan does not have a special talent, it was originaly uninhabited. It would be interseting to see, though, what would happen if you had parents from different septs, or you were born on one island but grew up from a very early age on another.
