I've listened to the Radio Show (got it from the library a few years ago) but most of the epidodes are word-for-word chapters in the first book (as I remember, anyway... I didn't notice anything wildly different) it's fun to listen to though. Gives it a new dimention, like listening to the Red Dwarf books as read by Chris Barrie, if that means anything to anyone.
I LOVED the 80's tv show. It's just great. I bought it on DVD and watch it regularily. For anyone who hasn't seen it but loved the books, you really should try to rent/buy it. It's worth it. The effects are terrible, the aliens are worse, but where else are you going to see a guy walking around in a hawaiian shirt with an argyle sweater vest and a pinstipe jacket and acutally making it work? (Ford Prefect is my hero!)
The movie was alright. I like the tv show better. Though getting Snape.. I mean Alan Rickman |:| to do the voice of Marvin was a brilliant choice.
In case it wasn't obvious, I <3 this book. I even used it as a reference in a paper I wrote. I actually got to compare Adams to Descartes, lol... ahh... good times.
*clears throat* Anyway, I know this post is getting a bit long, but this book is fantastic. I love the randomness of the plot, the bizzar side-lines, the oddities of the characters. Reading them, I can't believe that Adams actually hated writing.
And one quick, slightly off-topic note before I end this monologue, has anyone read
The Meaning of Liff? XD Best dictionary ever!!
Edit: lol Cat-eyes, I caught the Marvin cameo, too, and people gave me weird looks for clapping my hands all excitedly ~:|
