Does anyone else watch this series? The second season has just started up. It's about a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire trying to live 'normal' lives in Bristol in England. It's funny, heartwarming, heartrending and pretty much one of my favourite things on TV at the moment.
Is anyone else watching it? What do you think about it so far?
OMG I (L) this series so much!!! ;P
Sel got me into it - I've got the first season on dvd now and watched the first ep of the new series on bbc iplayer a couple of nights ago- though I think its disappeared now :(
Series 2 ep 1: (cos I know Sel would kill me if I spoiled it for her :P )
George: OMG I wanted to hit him!! he was being such an a*s towards Nina! I can't believe how he was behaving!
Annie is sweet, maybe tries a little too hard sometimes ie like in the latest episode... but I think its really sweet that she got to bring out her tray of cuppas into the street :)
[strike]Aidan[/strike] Mitchell- I Love. So Much. ^_^
I like that they have a new enemy after Herec (/sp) was killed, I'm intrigued (and a little scared!) by what they're after and what they want from the 3 of them :-/
I LOVE this show. I feel in love with it when ABC2 aired S1 last year and I'm excited as anything that S2 has finally come out!
S02E01;
Eilidh I completely agree about George! He's being such a naughty meanie! But on the other hand, Nina was being a complete PITA the ENTIRE episode. It doesn't justify George's...indiscretion...but still! Hopefully they'll put the pieces back together now the secret about her being a werewolf too is out.
I can't believe they took it off iPlayer so quickly. Last year I was watching the whole season after it had aired, and it was still all up there!
Season 2 episode 1 stuff
I'm not sure I'm happy with their new antagonists - they seem to be some kind of bunch of religious fanatics, which is, in my opinion, overdone (hell, it's even been done on True Blood). That being said, the Evil Coven of Vampires of Evil that they were up against last season is also something that gets used a lot in this type of story...The writers did a good job with Herrick and co, making them a nice twist on the traditional (black-clad, gothic) vampire coven.
Everyone on Livejournal's been exploding about Lucy (the woman with the goldfish, who seems to be set up as a love interest for Mitchell). Basically, they're not happy, as everyone there is either rabid Mitchell/Annie or Mitchell/George shippers. I, however, quite like her (it helps that I've seen the actress in a couple of BBC costume dramas and thought she was quite good) and am intrigued to see where the writers take their relationship.
I can't wait for the next episode!

After reading this thread I decided to try it out, I'm only up to ep 5 in the first season, but I like it. It has it's funny moments. For example in this ep:
The scene where Annie and George come to get Mitchel or whatever. How FUNNY was it!
Annie: I'm a ghost actually
Seth: Can you like move things about, and walk from one room to another?
George: I'm pretty sure everyone can do that!
LOL! And...
George: We're like the world's gayest ninjas' *Puts hands up like a bunny hopping.*
Annie: I think that was my first actual fight
George (acting manly): Yeah? Well you better get used to it! This is our life now
Annie: How's your hand?
George (looks like he's about to cry): It really hurts! I think I bruised it!
Bahahahaha ;D
Still can't believe Owen killed Annie :'(
I'm enjoying it!
EDIT: OH and George is the captain of Titanic from Dr Who! And also George's gf was the green cactus alien from The End of Time! :)

Re ep 1 of Being Human:
Yay! It was good to get it back :D I tell you what, from the spoilers at the end of episode 1 - we seem to have a very epic season ahead of us!
That being said, I'm not quite sure what to expect.
George: OmyGAWD he was being an absolute jerk at the start, and yes Nina was being whiny ... mmm let me just say I hope they rectify things soon.
Dolorsa, regarding livejournal pairings. I don't see any of the mains together at all - I like that they are just friends. I don't mind the doctor love interest so much but again, we'll see how it goes :)

MK, don't read this unless you've seen Episode 3.
Well, the plot thickens as far as Mitchell's doctor love interest... It turns out she's working with the bad guys, and clearly knew exactly what was going on with all the vampires. I was quite surprised, as I'd thought the storyline would play out much like George and Nina (ie that she didn't know what he was, and he was trying to have a relationship while preventing her from finding out his true nature). I think this is a bit more interesting.
Also, in terms of pairings I agree with you that Mitchell, George and Annie work better as friends than as boyfriends/girlfriend. The best thing about the series is how much it celebrates friendship, as well as romantic relationships.
Also, I heard that it's getting picked up for a third season, which is fantastic!

Oh, yay! That's fantastic news (re third season)!
S02e03 spoils:
OMG - Lucy! Yeah, I didn't see that one coming! Wonder what's going to happen to Nina next week - will she live or die? I still don't like what they did with her this season; all the fun of her character has gone and it's just all drama-drama-drama...
Back to Lucy...does she know about Mitchell, do you think?
I gotta say too it was great having Annie + George going on adventures again. George trying to go on the worlds worst date...pml.
My absolute favourite part of the episode was when George and Mitchell had a chat about their feelings, which resolved in 'lets just go out and get really hammered' 'ok' and Annie's indignant...'that's IT?'. Followed by the utter pain and despair the guys suffer upon realising that Hustle isn't on when they thought it was XD
I agree on the relationship front - they're all much better as friends!
I'm more glad than ever now that they're getting a third season. Watched the last episode last night of s2:
OMG! I was bundled up on the couch for most of it - it completely took me away...
I knew Lucy had to die...but it was still sad/strange when it happened. I thought that perhaps Mitchell would turn her, but I suppose not...
ANNIE, holy smokes. That was just awful. After it happened...gobsmacked. Just keep muttering, no, they can't take Annie...
Nice way to leave us hanging out for another season :P
Oh Min, I totally agree. I thought the finale was a real return to form, as although I enjoyed Season 2, I didn't think it was as good as Season 1. But I'm sad that they'll be leaving the Bristol house! I loved that house!

Agreed - season 2 generally didn't have the same punch as season 1, but the finale was fantastic.
I've a feeling they'll return to Bristol once they get Annie back? Mitchell seems to think they can get her back...it wouldn't be Being Human without The House!
I knew about the move to Cardiff, Min. I think it'll be pretty cool, since Cardiff is an awesome city, but I'll miss their fabulous Bristol house.
I'm going to miss the Bristol house too, don't get me wrong. I just think if they have to move anywhere, I'm glad it's Cardiff. And how much do you want to bet that by the end of the series, they're back in Bristol? The whole show basically revolved around their connection to the House as it was...
Yeah, I agree with you. I think part of the reason behind the Cardiff move is that it's tied up with the search for Annie, ie that they had to leave the House because with Annie gone, 1/3 of their connection to the House was gone. But I think they're going to need the House if they're ever going to get Annie back out of the land of the dead, since it was pretty much the only thing binding her to this world.
Thoughts?
Has anyone been watching the new season. OMG those last couple of episode were so well done, so unexpected!! Only 8 episodes, but omg, brilliant stuff!
Anyone tried the US version of the series?
Season three of UK BH was AMAZING. All of it.
I'm avoiding the US version like the plague. A friend watched the first episode and I think his comment was 'wow, they've managed to take the exact same script, concept and character models, and make it rubbish'.
Season 4 just started and OML, it's just such a brilliant series that everyone needs to get into!
Also heard the US version just got renewed... ergh, people need to have better standards!

*pops in* So what are we thinking of Season 4?
I have to say my reactions were as follows:
Ep 1 - "OMG it's like a mash of fandoms: Dollhouse, Terminator, Buffy, Terminator etc. - but you know what considering the cast change I think I can keep an open mind for it as long as I accept it's not quite the same show anymore."
Ep 2 - "Asides the fact now I'm *quite* distracted by Tom = Kelly (from Misfits) real life brother, I thought this episode was great and showed a lot of potential for the new series to come. :) "
Ep 3- "... this was a bit weird. Yes, I appreciate the show is low budget but the storyline felt weak/ flimsy and I'm not quite sure where they were going with it. In a series where you're already halfway through the season I thought there should have been more *bang*."
I've yet to watch episode 4 (thank you uni internet >.>;;) but I'm hopefully I'll get to watch it tomorrow~~
OML are you serious that Tom is Kelly (Misfits)'s brother? I did think OMG he sounds just like Kelly... that's so cool!
I was totally devastated by episode one... I didn't expect it so was so sad!
I'm not as captivated by these new people as previous season :(

Lol Jossie - Paul actually picked it and as soon as Min told me I have been distracted ever since because the similarities are just *way* too pronounced!
I have to admit I'm watching it for the love of the old series but it is pulling up quite poor in comparison. I guess there's only 1-2 episodes left though, so I'll stick it out til then but if it were a 25 episode series I don't think I'd bother watching anymore. Which is a shame really it was such a unique and engaging original premise ... I'm not even sure the writers have the story as well defined as they did in previous series (perhaps change of writers?)
I will have to say though :P, I don't actually mind Hal as a replacement for eyecandy in the absence of Mitchell (plus I have to say I *loved* how tidy his kitchen was kept at the start episode of the last episode I watched... although perhaps I'm projecting a bit in consideration of the lack of tidiness in my share-house kitchen atm >>;;)
EDIT: I had a quick flick over this thread and forgot how much I actually *loved* this show back in the day! Kinda makes me want to do a marathon to remember the good times ~~~

I'm actually going to go out on a limb and confess how intriguing I find it. The writers must have found themselves in a very difficult spot - 3 of their leads leaving - but had signed a contract for another season already. Where to go?
I'm going to get my only complaint out of the way first; it shouldn't be called Being Human any more. It's not Being Human. Being Human is Annie, Mitchell and George. This season is to Being Human what Torchwood was to Doctor Who - a character we recognise, same universe - but everything else is different. So, I guess I no longer think of it as that show, and maybe that's why I'm liking it so much.Â
That aside, the writer have done an incredible job, story-wise. They've created amazing, believable characters in Hal, Tom and Cutler. Cutler's back story this week was utterly chilling. I love his character! So clever, and I'm never sure if he's a good guy or bad guy, or if it's pointless to define the characters as either.Â
I love the Eve storyline, because it's so frustrating, in a 'what the hell is going on?!' kind of way. I love being surprised.Â
The main household had to grow on me - but I think the writers have been sensitive to that, in that they've made our grounding point - Annie - feel the same way about them. She wasn't sure of them - still doesn't fully trust them. Every time we see echoes of George or Mitchell she gets sad. Like the whole end scene where Hal and Tom are *not understanding* The Real Hustle ('I think it's a show about con men...'), and Annie just looks so terribly sad.Â
I actually can't wait to see where it goes at the moment. I'm definitely not as wound up in it as I was - I don't compulsively watch it as soon as its available. But I really enjoy and respect how well they've done this season given what they (the writers/creators) were handed. Which is mean of me to say because, it makes it sound like I'm not enjoying it in its own right...I really am.
Is anyone out there watching season five? It started in the UK on Sunday. Really want to talk about it, but not sure if ill just be having a conversation with myself...
If you are watching,
were you annoyed as I was when Hal tried to convince Kram/Krum that he was really a vampire by showing him he had no reflection? Didn't Mitchell or Herrick explain in the very first episode that the no-reflection myth wasn't true, and spread by the vampires themselves by way of misinformation? :-/
Continuity aside (though...argh), Hal explaining the conversion - (something like) - You're heartbeat is slowing down, to about 1 beat per minute, but you won't 'die', your healing process is too good - also confuses me :P - is he saying that vampires aren't really dead, but very-close-to-death-with-supernatural-healing-abilities?
I still like it, it had some great moments, I'm still convinced it shouldn't be called Being Human any more (because they're not trying ALL that hard to BE human...yet...Alex's goal is to pass over, whereas Annie's was to...make cups of tea, look after people and have a nice life :P ). I miss Annie, George and Mitchell...
