Ok, so I have some really really whacky dreams. I usually don't remember them, I just remember that they're weird.
Last night, however, was an exception...
Last year during the floods my boss' business got flooded and I helped with the cleanup and that's the setting for this dream
So there I am, up to my elbows in gunk and I suddenly *remember* that I'm supposed to take my teeth out. (because that makes sense). I proceed to take my teeth out. One. By. One.
Once they're out, I stop to have a good look at them and I notice that my wisdom teeth look like they're wearing away. It's weird. So we keep cleaning up and at the end I put my teeth back in. One. By. One. And they're all wobbly because apparently they take time to settle back into the gums. But I decide to take them out again and throw away my wisdom teeth before putting them all back in again. Then I got in trouble because I threw away my wisdom teeth.
And then I woke up...and checked all my teeth hahaha.
Any ideas?
Well, dreams about losing your teeth are usually indicative of feeling a loss of control over a situation. Teeth are used to bite, chew, gnaw. In this sense they are very primal and powerful, so loss of them suggests a loss of your power or control.
The fact that you put them back in makes it a bit more complicated, like you were asserting yourself or regaining your power, but it didn't quite work.
Given that this all occurred in the context of a work situation I would say it symbolises a feeling of powerlessness at work, that you want to remedy or have remedied by trying to be more assertive. Perhaps it didn't work out well for you, or you are afraid that it will backfire.
Well isn't that interesting! My current work situation is not ideal and I was being taken advantage of quite severely and there wasn't anything I could do about it. But I've since taken steps to remove myself from that position by applying and interviewing for new positions. I'm hoping it doesn't backfire...
I cannot believe how accurate that is!! Thanks Larana!!
