A couple years ago, there was an 'Ober-Idol' competition that required people to re-write songs as though they were being sung by Obernewtyn characters (for example, 'Part of Your World' from The Little Mermaid re-written for Our Ariel, and other less obvious selections.)
It was a lot of fun, but does anybody remember the details of that comp?I'm wondering if we might be able to run it again this year.
Edit: looking back, it looks like it's been run at least twice already. Hopefully that doesn't mean we couldn't do it again...

Ama, I don't remember much about Ober Idol, not having entered it, but I don't see why having run it twice already would be a problem, the Ashlings have been running the Big Bag Book of Lore for years. If a competition is good fun, you may as well try to run it again.
And on that note, I was thinking of doing another colouring in competition. Figured I'd check if there was anything people did or didn't like about the last one before getting started.

Like Sian said Ama, there's comps we do again and again just cuz they're fun :D The Mystics have run the Fortunetelling practically every year so it's become a tradition. Maybe that's another comp that will become tradition?
I liked the idea of the colouring in competition Sian. The reason why I didn't enter was because the images were a bit detailed and the lines kind of blurred in together so it didn't have clear regions. Though I'm used to colouring books :P The drawings were absolutely gorgeous though!
I was thinking of running my maths squares again... But I'm not sure if anyone is really fond of them ~:|
I wasn't here last year so I have no basis for comparison, but I like maths, so I'm all for it, EI :nods:

I enjoyed the maths squares EI. I miss doing maths, so I'd definitely love to see them again.
Sorry for not posting this here, but I sent Ama a PM about Ober-Idol, since I'd simply skipped this thread and asked for partners in the other. I think it might be becoming a tradition (at least I hope it is) since this is its fifth year (it's fourth as 'Ober-Idol').

I was thinking that since this year's theme is Taillard Observatory there could be a writing comp where Obernetters had to discover and create a back-story/origin for a constellation. What do people think? I've got to go, like, right now but I'll come back soon and develop the idea further. :)
Um, us Wandies are already doing that, Meza :P

I was thinking a word search containing constellations, would that interfere with the Wandies comp Sionainn?
Nope, that won't affect us, Deb. Even a crossword might be fun, although they're a lot more effort to construct, obviously.

Cool, thanks. I can get started then. Might even check out the crossword option.
Hehe. XD Ah, well. Have fun with that, Shonks! You can count me in as a participant, then. :P

Two competition ideas, somewhat similar to each other.
One: Scatter some stars about the site, each with a different letter on them. Entrants have to find all of them, use them to form a theme related word and from there create an artwork inspired by the word.
Two: A find-a-word, with the left over letters forming a word, to inspire a piece of writing.
Would anyone be interested in either of these competitions?
Both of those sound really interesting Arwen. I'm not arty so drawing/creating something is not my thing, but I might get inspired to come up with a piece of writing based around a word. So I'd like to see them happen!
