I was expecting Gig's story to be worse somehow - it didn't really come close to the failed elopement in the book - but I suppose they didn’t want to make the adaptation overly melodramatic. Surely there has to be more to the story than him simply paying Wickham to keep away from Lydia too. The problem is, the stakes just aren’t as high in this day and age. It is unfortunately not that rare for someone’s boyfriend to turn out to be emotionally abusive or willing to screw them over. It’s sad when it happens but not on a par with running away and living with a man without marriage in the Regency Era. I can't imagine Wickham and Lydia lasting very long as a couple anyway.
Maybe it also has something to do with Wickham being a coach. I'm pretty sure there would be a rule where coaches have a relationship with their coachees. Maybe Wickham has had numerous relationships with other girls on the swim team and he gets taken to court and Darcy has to bail him out? Or he's a pimp and recruits girls from the swim team to join his uh pimp business? Ah the many, many possibilities of Wickham's poisonous past (and present).

I think I felt how it came about (Gigi revealing the last tidbit to the letter regarding Wickham) was kind of put on and awkward. I think it could have been introduced a bit better. But props to the Gigi actress because she was believable and so sad, but strong though!
Just seen the latest Lydia vlog and part way through, but I hate how Wickham is exacerbating her feelings of being an outsider/outcast in her own family - how could he say things like 'Jane and Lizzie are THE Bennet sisters" and Lydia can't come between that, that Jane will always side with Lizzie? How can he truly like her when he's manipulating her like that? Poor Lydia, playing on her fears and insecurities like that. It appears however, nothing is more important to Wickham than himself "where does that leave me... where does that leave us?" It's like he wants Lydia to be an outcast in her own family, just so he can have a friend who feels similarly. Or it's like he's terrified that when she goes back to her sisters, she'll see through his lies and manipulations, instead of this rosy coloured glasses she sees him through right now. Sadly, Lydia believes him and doesn't realise what sisters can be like.
I think that if Wickham wasn't so destructive, that Lydia and he may very well work, because they both feel like outsiders for being so crazy. Perhaps if Wickham had a couple of good sisters/brothers like Jane and Lizzie he may be worth saving, but it's like he's what Lydia would be without her family - spiralling out of control and destroying and manipulating others. It's rather sad.
Though it's not the main story just a side, these Lydia vlogs offer so much more to analyse (for me anyway) because in the book and the TV series we don't see this side of the story so much and it's so interesting!
Of course I do love the LBD as they are the main vlogs!
I really hope Jane and Lizzie watch Lydia's vlogs before sweeping in and trying to change the situation.

I had to re watch the last of the vlog, because as soon as I saw Darcy in the Fitz wig I lost it :P
I wonder if Ashley's laughter was genuine, because it didn't come across as acting, but if it was...well, kudos to her. It came across as genuine amusement. :)

Definitely one of the comic high points of the series. That wig... and the 'close up' from Fitz's first appearance on the videos!
This was also the flirtiest and most relaxed we've seen them be together. Clearly Gigi's sight-seeing plan has paid off.

'Good Enough' pretty much sums up the issues behind all of Lydia's relationships. The creators are doing a good job with handling/presenting Lydia's side of the story.
Oh yes, and that question mark. I guess the fall is coming, but I'm still none the wiser as to how it's all going to play out. As cynical as it may sound, after feeling a little let down by Gigi's revelations on the LBD, I'm prepared for the Lydia/Wickham story line to have slightly less impact that I originally thought. But I will be delighted should I be proven wrong :)
I was a little unsure about Gigi's story right at the very beginning but I think that you're all underestimating just how much he hurt her. Wickham is very clearly an emotional abuser, and even though at face value what happens to Gigi is not the big dramatic event that we were expecting, it's still a big deal, and he still hurt her a lot. It's very easy to underestimate what happens on an emotional level, especially when we can see exactly what he's doing to Lydia, but I don't think that it's entirely right to dismiss her story as 'not dramatic enough', because he did use her and then betray her as though she was nothing.
OK, on Twitter, Charlotte just asked Lizzie to call her immediately - as in an emergency .... Is stuff starting to happen?
It can't be anything else, surely. It makes sense that it's Charlotte and not Jane who has found out and contacted Lizzie. Out of all the girls, Charlotte is the most organised and on top of things.

I think Lizzie Bennett Diaries Wickham is actually worse than Canon Wickham. CW was opportunistic, amoral and self-interested, but I don't think he was ever deliberately cruel.
And CW liked Lydia well enough ... for a while.
