What an enticing title to a thread! Am I right?
So I'm not sure how widespread this offer is, but I know that my local Dymocks store (I won't say which one, if you're really interested PM me) offers from time to time free books to people with a student card, of a Booklover (Dymock's loyalty card). The catch is that they are slightly damaged, hence why they are being given away for free.
How can you get your hands on them? Well, you need to pay attention to your local stores' facebook or twitter pages, and they'll post up when they are giving them away. My one seems to do it fairly regularly, once a month or two.
If your Dymocks doesn't do this, that's a shame. But still keep an eye on their social media pages, since they usually promote special deals (sometimes only for 'VIPs' - which could mean Booklover's members, or maybe facebook fans, not entirely sure).
In other news, I was just wondering if people have still seen Angus and Robertson stores around, I thought they all closed down, but then suddenly one popped up in town, a brand new store! It was quite bizzare. Has anyone else seen them?
Re A&R - we had one still operating in our local shopping centre where we used to live (since I don't live around there anymore - it was at Brookside Mitchelton), though it didn't quite look up to scratch of the old school A&R's - looked kind of tired. I asked them how they were still there, and they said they were privately owned and kept the name, or something to that effect, though it's been a little while since I've been over that side of town, so it might have changed.
Anyway, maybe it's the same with the one you've seen - they're operating under that name privately simply because it's identifiable?
Could you post links to the relevant facebook / twitter page/account for the Dymocks you get your offers through?
