Brilliant. Pleasepleaseplease do Quidditch Through the Ages, too. Documentary style. Narrated by Neil Oliver.

SQQQUUUEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! [act]flails[/act] Cannot wait for this!!!!!!!
Old faces? Dumbledore maybe? Or maybe ancestors of wizarding families that look eerily like their descendants (back to the future style)?

I am really quite excited about this!
I'm especially glad that she is writing the screenplay, rather than someone else adapting the book into a screenplay - I just know she will fill it with all sorts of extra information and awesomeness!!!!!
[act]Jumps around squealing[/act] Yes, yes, yes! Thank Lud it's not completely over yet.

This is awesome! At least it makes up for all those people who were tricked by rumours of an 8th book. But this will be pretty cool, I'll be very interested to see what she does with it! Can't wait.
Also more exciting this is FIRST IN A NEW SERIES! so Min I think it might be a good chance. Maybe more of the Tales from Beedle the Bard might be. Or imagine if she finally did Hogwarts: A History!!!!
Apparently, it's also meant to be set in 1920s era which was the time in which Grindelwald was at the height of his power (so I'm thinking definite young Dumbledores :D ) . . . and for some reason I'm also excited by the prospect of witches and wizards in 20s fashions (even though they don't tend to follow muggle trends) :P
Yeah it's going to start in New York which should be interesting!
I kinda wish it didn't start in New York to be honest. But I'm just really sick of America in media, and this is about a guy who travels the entire world looking fir magixal creatures, but hey instead of going somewhere interesting that we don't see a lot . . . Let's with America again. Also it's the HP world--like obviously the wizarding world extends beyond Britain but the books are so terribly British that it almost feels like cheating :P
Sorry but the world is interesting I would like to see the rest of it occassionally. Also this annoys me with Doctor Who a lot lately too. Time travelling box that can go anywhere but if we're on earth it will always be britain or america!
Well, Doctor Who is a British show...
I'm not sure about this new film. I think I'll reserve judgement until I've at least seen a trailer

Sionainn I totally agree. Why on earth start in New York?
Probably someone throwing a lot of money at it said to. I remember going to a talk with the Spierig brothers at Supanova years ago, who were (practically) torn to shreds by the crowd (well, one or two rabid fans) for filling Daybreakers with American accents (it's filmed in a Brisbane and has a largely Aus cast). It was uncomfortable to watch them in that situation and in the end one of them seemed to get tired of defending themselves and said they'd have loved to keep it all-Australian, but Film Australia wouldn't support them until they had most of their budget sourced elsewhere. The only people willing to throw money at it were Americans and with that money came conditions; one of them being that it's aimed at a US audience and thus they needed American accents.
My point being its likely someone at WB has said, we'll get more money out of this thing if we throw a few US references in it, let's start at New York, because it'll look good in the trailer. They know that internationally it'll do amazingly regardless. So, I bet that decision is entirely $ based and Rowling is taking that concession to keep some of her other conditions (or, maybe she wanted it to be this way and my angry rant is entirely wrong).
It feels like a British institution such as HP (and DW) should start/be primarily set in the UK. It annoyed me about Doctor Who mainly because it was obvious they were trying to appeal to the US fans and no one else - knowing the rest of the world would follow regardless (this made all the more evident by the exclusive SDCC trailer that wasn't released online for anyone else - wth?!). I actually want MORE of it to be set in the UK (get out of London! I love it but there is so much more to the UK!)
I'm sure FBaWTFT (:-/) will still have the Brit vibe. But they'd better have a damn good reason for starting in NYC or they've lost a portion of my trust. Something as popular and iconic as HP doesn't need to try claw for people in a certain country to see it.
[/end rant]
