While we want to leave genre and form open for your own choice, this little project still needs some guidance. We all know a good anthology has a theme to it, that something that ties all those separate works together into a neat little package. Thus we want to get you talking about themes.
Opposites: big and small, love and hate, life and death, sweet and sour; relationships: mutual, antagonist, romantic; nature: life, fauna, recycling, pollution--did you know you can send messages of caution using only flowers?--fantasy: unicorns and dragons and lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Really a theme can be anything we want, anything we need, it to be.
But what do you think will keep you creative? Get you piling up words and those ideas flowing? What themes would you be interested in writing about?
We shall leave the discussion open until 31st August and then run a poll with the ideas given.

I'm not going to be submitting anything (obviously!) but there was one idea I had for a theme that would hopefully be vague enough to leave enough room for diversity (and it would also kind of suit us/Obernet)...Misfit
Not that anything will be related to misfits in the context of Obernewtyn since this is original work only, but as a theme it could encompass all manner of clever interpretations (and if the audience is YA it's a common thread in work intended for that audience as it is).

Nice one, Min. All sorts of ways a topic like that could be addressed!
I was just about to suggest misfits, but then I scrolled down and saw Min had beaten me to it! It just seems to fit so well, especially since the anthology is planned to celebrate the anniversary of a site that celebrates the misfit.
So excited about this!

So what's next?
Misfit theme is awesome, because I feel that we all relate to it (hence being part of this fantastic supportive community) and someone already said that there are so many avenues to take with this.
Well, we were going to let you all come up with different ideas and then run a poll for a week to decided, but it seems that is now completely unnecessary.
SO, I think it's safe to say that our theme is MISFITS!
As for what now, we're not officially starting till the 1st of September (this just gives us a little more time to set up the first few things that'll be happening and test the waters, so to speak) but I'll put some more info up in the General Discussion thread tomorrow for some more, well, general discussion.
Huzzah! That just goes to show you what can be achieved when misfits work together for a common goal.
I had some really good Ideas for themes, came on and saw 'misfits' and they all flew out the window while i had a 'why didnt I think of that?! moment
Hold on to those ideas, we may well do another anthology if this one is successful!
Or am I jumping the gun a bit here?
