Which authors do you like? I love IC but also J.K Rowling, Stephenie Meyer and Bonnie Byrant. Sure the Twilight Saga movies are sort of... Off putting... But you have to agree, that the books are great! Anyone else wanna share their thoughts?
I have certainly enjoyed JK Rowling both Harry Potter and her new stuff. IC of course. Rick Riordan's work is always enjoyable. I have loved Patrick Ness' Chaos Walking series, so good! JRR Tolkien and GRR Martin. John Marsden and his Tomorrow When the War Began Series. I have liked John Green's books. Kate Grenville is a nice Australian author. Mira Grant and the Newsflesh trilogy are great. I think I'll leave it there, so many!
The maze runner series ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
Current fave is Maggie Steifvater because she is one of very few YA authors who really think about the power of words, and all the little subtle things she does with her writing are a joy (even is her actions scenes and endings end up kind of meh in contrast).
I'm also going to second Patrick Ness, because YES--he is another that knows what he is doing, though I have only read his Chaos Walking series thus far.
I will always love Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett though. All time faves, right there.
Agreed re Adams & Pratchett. My other faves other than IC are Harry Harrison (can't recommend him enough - from his clever and funny stuff to his more serious), Lynn Flewelling (Fifi made me do it...her Tamir Triad is fantastic), Kate Forsyth (pre-Rhianon's Ride), JK Rowling, and David Eddings.
IC, Pratchett, Robert Jordan, Robin Hobb (brilliant fantasy and brilliant characters), Tad Williams' Otherland, Susan Cooper, Iain M Banks for some twisted sci fi stuff, Dan Simmons' Hyperion.

Robin Hobb, Tolkein, Ian Irvine, Sherrie Tepper, Tamora Pierce, Eddings, and way too many more to list.
Yes, agree, Deb: Eddings is a favourite from way back, though it's been over a decade since I revisited him.
Aside from the obligatory and obvious Isobelle Carmody mention :P
Thomas Hardy, William Faulkner, Alice Munro, Toni Morrison, Dorothy Porter, Elizabeth Bishop, Sylvia Plath, Edward Thomas, Naguib Mahfouz, Anne Bronte, Raymond Carver, Virginia Woolf.
Such a lit student. No doubt I will remember others and return here for quiet edits.
Isobelle Carmody, Tamora Pierce, JK Rowling, David Eddings, Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, Cassandra Clare, Garth Nix, Jodi Picoult, Suzanne Collins.....
Aside from Isobelle Carmody- who must mean something to me, since she is my daughter's namesake - my favourite author would have to be Clive Barker, with Anne RIce a close second. However, I also REALLY love classic American authors such as Kurt Vonnegut and Jack Kerouac. I admire their writing styles so much! My favourite book, however, is 'Black Foxes' by Sonya Hartnett. Her writing is SO good ;D
Isobelle Carmody, James Moloney, Cornelia Funke, John Flanagan, Eoin Colfer, Terri Terry
