Yeah Miryum is interesting, she certainly lets on a whole lot less than she really knows. I guess she's a receptacle for the Agyllians to feed some information to Elspeth, but I wouldn't be surprised if she had a "side-quest" to try and increase the likelihood of success.
Her side-quest (lol, love it) seems to involve Straaka and his family, but I just have to wonder what her role actually is...considering prior to The Sending we all thought Elspeth would be finishing the Quest on her own (or with Maruman and Gahltha). It's so interesting how her character has gone from background to potentially quest-reliant important, I have to wonder if there are still other characters that will be the same, too.
Now I realise I've confused Miryum with Maryon, the Futureteller mistress, oops, definitely time to start the reread. But I think both have sidequests, everybody gets a sidequest!
I get the two mixed up in my head a lot, too.
I'm so glad Elspeth isn't alone. Besides feeling for her as a person, I think it'd get boring reading about her traveling alone.
Yeah, I've been thinking about the prophesy about Miryum being needed before the end. What will she be needed for? Is it just to save Elspeth from whatever situation she has gotten into at the end of the Sending? Or is it more than that - will she literally be needed at the end? And why her? Miryum is a coercer and is strong - but is there something else special about her that we haven't picked up on?
After the Booktopia podcast I'm kinda paranoid that everyone has a role to play.
