Time to get excited because this is REALLY happening now. The Red Queen is nearly here, and Isobelle's putting together a massive party to launch it.
We don't have much info yet, [strike]as the final date is still unconfirmed (Isobelle is putting down the deposit next week, though, and then it WILL be confirmed and announced)[/strike]. Ok update: Isobelle's given the go-ahead to add the date here. Nobody book any flights yet, though, until it's confirmed, please?
The Masked ball / Red Queen Launch will be on:
12th December 2015
Yes, a month after the book comes out :P but this way we'll all have read it, and we can just party and celebrate Isobelle's achievement and send off the Obernewtyn Chronicles, instead of all desperately wanting to disappear back to our hotel rooms and read the book.
In case it's not clear, the ball will be held in Melbourne.
Isobelle's asked for a revised list of people who would like an invite to the masked ball. If you put your name on the list however many years ago we collected it, you'll still be invited if we can track you down (as many have left the site in that time) - but we need your email address to check your postal address is still current. Please ensure your email address on your Obernet account is still current!
To attend you'll need to be able to get to Melbourne and pay for your ticket. The cost is also still to be confirmed, but won't be as bad as you think. You will get the option of purchasing either a single ticket (one adult), double ticket (two adults) or a family ticket (up to 2 adults and 2 children under 16 years).
Included in the cost of your ball ticket will be one of Isobelle's books - either:
- The Red Queen,
- Evermore, or,
- Scatterlings and Greylands (the Ford St editions).
So at this point we're collecting expressions of interest, for those who believe they (genuinely) will be able to attend. To get onto the list, send your:
- Obernet username,
- Full name,
- Email address you want to be contacted,
- Which book you would like with your ticket (and, if you'd like more than one book),
- Whether you'd be likely to purchase a single ticket (one adult), double ticket (two adults), or family ticket (up to 2 adults and 2 children under 16 years).
To ines . obernewtyn . net @ gmail . com (remove the spaces) with the subject Red Queen Masked Ball by 31st August 2015.
Any questions, please ask below, otherwise we look forward to receiving your emails :)
How do I put my name on the list? Ahhhh, where's the original thread about this? I recall reading something years ago....
Do you think the date will be after the 12th? if it's the weekend of the 7th i will have to move my art show around, so i'd like to know the date ASAP
It shouldn't be the 7th, but I'm sorry we can't be more definite about the date, yet. Isobelle wants to put down the deposit first and confirm it completely before anyone books anything like flights.
The month I have 2 concerts, a cruise and uni exams (booked before we even knew about the release) I am going to be absolutely devastated if it falls on one of those dates after waiting years for the launch! But could not be more excited about this!!!
Oh my word! Email sent. This has made my night.
Oh man, oh man, oh man!
Flailing so much! About time I kicked my account back online. Couldn't be more excited!!
Hi I was just wondering if the month of the party was known? I know you don't know a date but do you know what month? I am currently travelling so if I know that I will know if I will be back in Australia or not :-)
Thanks this would be so amazing to go to.

Isobelle's given the go-ahead to announce the date; 12th December! Have updated the first post with it for newcomers to the thread.
I would love to attend, but there's no way I can afford to do it. Oh well, I'll be there in spirit anyway
E-mail sent. This was the best thing to wake up too.
I'm so excited.
How am I to contain this in my humanities lecture? Lol

NOOOOOO That's my graduation date!!!
:((
Lets see if I can do some major juggling :(
Also you said that included in the ticket price is a copy of the book. How does that work if the ball isn't until a month after the book comes out?
Knew that'd be the first question ;)
The plan is going to be that you can choose another book if you like. Current possibles are Evermore and the new edition of Scatterlings. But final list of book options to come.
Hope you can do some juggling, Loren!
Ooh yeeeess Evermore!
Excellent news.
Zomg!!!!! *squeeeeeee!!!!* I'm sure I'm not the first oldbie to come out of the woodwork, and I'm sure I won't be the last 😊
Ahh that's so exciting, and it is after exams (superb decision Isobelle to put it away from the launch!). Just have to see if I will actually be able to make it
If I want to bring a person with me do I have to specify that in the email? I'm just thinking that you will probably want numbers as well as names.

Nope, at this point just your name, username & email. Just want the member contacts, details about +1 will be later depending on how many members are coming (obv, there is a limit to number of people the venue can take. It's a large number, but there are a lot of people who will want to come).
If you would like to come but are unsure of if you can (I don't live in Melbourne) what do you do?
If there's a possibility that you'll be able to fly to Melb, I'd put your name down Hermione. If the chances are slim, then I wouldn't; we're trying to form an accurate list of the numbers the event will need to account for (and there'll be a ton of people form outside Obernet who Isobelle will be inviting too, of course!). Bear in mind that we'll be planning a couple events in a few other capital cities during the Red Queen Tour in November, so you don't have to miss out entirely if you can't go to the ball.
There'll be a page in a couple of weeks where people can buy their tickets / select which book they want, and lock in their invite.

So exciting, can't wait!
A December date is much better, more chance that more people have read the entire book and be able to have some solid discussion about the storylines without being worried about spoiling the story for everyone else!
