I believe someone mentioned on FB that there's an embargo. So won't be out till the 12th!
I have also not pre-ordered TRQ just in case it is early (like last time). If anyone does see it in the stores can they let us know- to get a copy I will go on an expedition to anywhere in Sydney.
For me the release is perfectly timed as I am currently free of any immediate responsibility- last Friday I submitted a paper (after a month of working on it every day and every night) and this week I have finished a whole set of marking. This weekend I plan to do a quick reread of the series. As soon as I have a copy of TRQ I will literally be doing nothing but reading. I am actually curious to see if I can knock off the 1120 pages before sleeping, as it has been a while since I have done a reading marathon.
I think a reaction thread is a great idea!
I never finished my re-read because of uni :( even though I know I could do it in a matter of days if I put my mind to it I won't have time before it comes out and I don't remember most of TSK and TS so I've been nodding to myself pretending I understand half of what everyones been talking about from those :,)
Like Sionainn I am one of those people who will probably flick straight to the back to see the ending!

I know when it comes to games if someone puts it on the shelf early everyone else is allowed to in the interests of competition which should also mean that pre-orders can be picked up as well. I'm just hoping that if that happens digital copies will be given the same treatment
Word is that it's embargoed, so shouldn't be coming out early
Yeah that happens with games too and it seems to happen in the last 24 hours often enough. It doesn't mean there isn't some sort of punishment for the store who breaches the embargo, just that it does happen, and in the interests of ensuring fair competition if it happens everyone else is allowed to sell it too
I just checked with my local Dymocks, they have TRQ in stock so it will be available when they open tomorrow morning! FYI some of the other smaller book stores that I have checked mentioned that TRQ will not be available until their delivery truck arrives tomorrow, which is normally after lunchtime.
Ugh, yeah just checked with the bookstore near my work with whom I've placed my order/reservation and they didn't seem to even know when they were actually getting the books in. If they don't have them by the weekend, is it too rude of me to tell them I don't want it anymore? Sounds like it would just be better to walk into Dymocks and grab one straight away, at least I'll know I'll be reading all weekend then!
I just did a call around my local book shops and none of them except for Dymocks Indooroopilly seem to have it ready to go for tomorrow morning. So, that's where I'll be headed :P
(Though, ebook at midnight tonight might also be a good idea...)
Does the book actually download at midnight do you know? Last time I had one on preorder it came around midday, but that was a U.S. one...
I got a text message from Dymocks to tell me I could pick it up this afternoon, and even though I can't read it until I have read the last two-hundred-ish pages of my The Sending re-read, and study... I still ran through the mall to get to Dymocks

Just got a text from the local bookstore saying it's ready to pick up tomorrow!!!! Debating whether to call in sick to work on Friday....
I can confirm Aixe's comment, my sister just picked up our copies from Dymocks Sydney :D so exciting!
Hmmm my bookstore obviously takes those embargoes pretty seriously then.....
I bought mine off Fishpond as none of the bookstores in NZ appear to know anything about it. Just got an email saying they had to re order and it won't be arrive until end of November. Cue meltdown.
I just picked up Red Queen from Dymocks Sydney! It's in my hot little hands (and it is large and in charge!) I'm sorry for those who have local bookshops that follow the embargo :( . But anyone who's getting out of work in the Sydney CBD, Dymocks closes at 7 and the copies are near the back in the fantasy section! Yay!
awww they haven't arrived at the Adelaide Dymocks yet so they won't be out on the shelf until mid-afternoon. I'm going to be ringing around in the morning... So jealous of those who already have their hands on it, happy reading tonight!
I checked with my dymocks store and they wouldn't let me buy one, said I'd have to come back tomorrow. How unfair that some stores ignore the embargo- I'm desperate to read it all before starting to write my students' reports next week!!
I noticed Dymocks Canberra got a (pretty weak) reprimand from Penguin on twitter. Does make you wonder how seriously anyone takes these embargoes if bookstores are so blatant about having broken them as to tweet about it.
im in Perth but i ordered the book from booktopia so i hope it comes on Friday or Saturday!!
one hour until I start ringing my list of bookstores to see if any of them will have TRQ this morning. I hope I don't have to wait until the afternoon!
