I've always wondered if Jes, Cameo and Selma were just the fleeting losses/tragedies they seem. maybe they can't be the destroyer (cameo obviously not because we saw her die) but it's always the little details and clues which are further expanded - i've always wondered about selma. IC is a tricksy author she will shock us in the end. i don't think ariel will be manipulating matthew the same way he manipulated rushton and domick - IC never does the same thing twice - but he (matthew) could be the destroyer i suppose. there are just too many possibilities. daffyd's too unimportant or unrelated to her final quest. dameon is equally unlikely. there is a certain amount of poetry about matthew being the destroyer. i think ariel is too obvious a choice in fact i've always thought his threat has been overrated - sure he's a bad guy who has a direct affect on elspeth's life but i think the end will be far more sinister and subliminal than we expect,... i'm rambling now so i'll stop....
Hi
I see the theory for Matthew being the destroyer but I like him too much it would break my heart! Though it would be a great twist.

Hey anyone consider Sharna?
Looking back, I actually think that Matthew is the destroyer. But not by choice. As Matthew is already in the Red Land his plans for good and escaping may actually be turned around by a misfortune event and we all know he had lots of them. Or maybe the destroyer is actually a group, who may not even realize there all working together.
