I noticed that in your sig-cool quote!
OK, I am rereading TKP again:
There is no us, Elspeth. There is only you. And I do not hate you. I need you. --Ariel
I wanted to say to her what I had learned-that hapiness must be taken when it is offered, but some wisdoms can only be recognised if they come upon a long climb.--Elspeth
"Nothing that you should feel compelled to report," I shouted rashly. "I am not planning to kill anyone, or burn down your precious farms. There is no dire plot in hand. Nothing...of any importance has happened. I have just heard my brother has been murdered by that filthy Council." My rage died as quickley as it had begun and I lay my head down and wept.
Rushton knelt beside me in the hay and touched my arm as gently as he had ever touched a hurt animal. "I suppose you will not believe it, but I am no informant for Vega. I am sorry about the death of your brother. You must think badly of me to imagine I have no compassion. I have only a half brother and there is nothing between us. I could almost envy your affection, though now it brings you much pain. I have cared for few since the death of my mother."-Obernewtyn
"Have you noticed how few woman there are around here? Rilla let it slip. Tonight we are going to be looked over like batches of scones."-Kella, The Farseekers
"He hit her in the face. There was blood all over but the rain's washed it off. Wait..." Before I could stop her Kella reached out and touched me, drawing my pain off into herself.
At once the dizziness faded.
"Hurts..." moaned Kella, whitefaced. I pushed her away.
"That's enough. I can think now. You've stopped the faintness."
Kella smiled wanly.-The Farseekers

Elspeth to Galtha (During TKP)
"Dear one you are yourself and your spirit is free no matter that humans used you ill and bound and rode you. perhaps in escaping funaga-li you are freer then the wild equines, because your freedom was hard won. Can anyone know freedom who has not known the lack of it?"
You cant leave that one out [img]http://s4.images.proboards.com/grin.gif" alt=";D" border="0"/>
I took a seat beside her. "You need not address me as Lady, Seely," I said as gently as I could. "I am no more a lady than you."
- The Keeping Place, p352
"To who may care.
I have your precious Master. If Misfits do not aid the rebels in their fight against the Council, he dies."
- The Keeping Place, p361
"I will stay by your side until you wake," I promised, taking his hand in mine. "Sleep my love. Sleep and heal."
- The Keeping Place, p748
Quote:I love the first time Elspeth and Swallow meet in Ashling. It was so sudden and flirty. I can remember reading it at work in my lunch break and having the biggest smile on my face.
I mean... 'gentler pleasures'? *fans self* I will admit that Rushton is my soft spot when reading these books but Swallow has always been something nice on the side.

same... i love rushton but swallows great too!
And now Maruman said a Destroyer was searching my dreams.Could Maruman mean that he dreamed the Destroyer was searching for me?
pg 201,second paragraph,Ashling.
well, i'm gonna do the quote in my sig.
"and what are we? Warriors? Misfits? Thats part of our trouble, we dont know what we are." -Dameon
One quote that captivated me was
"Remember when Dameon said the trouble with us was that we didn't know what we were? Well, I think we do now" - Elspeth in Ashling
''Then do something of your own will.'' I said promptly. 'Show us you can move your fat bum as fast as you flap your lips.'' - Elspeth in Ashling. pg 54 chap 6.

i love that quote!

Rushton
"You don't know what an irony it would be if you betrayed me" Obernewtyn
Anyone care to enlighten me?
Does that mean that Rushton is cappable of betraying Elf? I mean, does he have a reason?
I found this bit very amusing ^^ :
He (Garth) sighed.
'You can continue your researches afterwards,' I (Elspeth) said gently.
'I hope so.' He sighed again, and turned to the door then glanced back.
'Would you vote to open the grave?'
TKP pg 506
To Laurens quote of Miska's before, maybe that's a hint for the final book, maybe he betray's her? Something to do with the weapon machines and such?
Just a thought

I know what you mean, it's taken me years to try to understand that line. Lately I've decided that it means that since Rushton is trying to, in the long run, provide a refuge for Elspeth and people like her, it would be ironic for her to tell Vega and Alexi that he helped her - because then they would kill him, he wouldn't be able to make a safe house for Misfits and Elspeth would have (unknowingly) eliminated her only chance of having a safe place to live in relative freedom. If that makes any sense at all. [img]http://s2.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>

OK, a fave quote from TKP
"Outside the barns, Gahltha reared up and pawed the mist with a whinny of exaltation before stopping. I slid from his back laughing. 'That was a wild ride!'
'There is no better way to chase fears away,' Gahltha sent.
I love that! So true [img]http://s2.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" alt=":)" border="0"/>

agreed. i've always interpreted it as it would be ironic for her to betray him considering what his plans for Ober were and that if she did betray him she would jeopardise those plans and her chances of being part of them. actually i think that's just what albreda said. oops!
well here is my fav quote from atthis in farseekers (pg 269):
there are always choices.....the future is a river whose course is long designed but which a flood or time or no rain might alter. whatever choice you make will have its own consequences.
mav
Thankyou Albreda!! I understand it now!!
Maruman : Stupid funga, all funga are stupid
Elspeth : NO THEY ARE NOT!
Maruman : Holy Socks!! it talks!!
lol i made that last bit up
'I obeyed the voice because...such voices of power speak for higher reasons then to save the life of one man or a girl-even if horses do bend knee to her, or become lame.'
Swallow, Ashling
Thinking of Rushton made me feel his absence, despite what i had said to Freya. i missed him, not as i missed Dameon, but as i hungered for food or water or some other essential but basi need of life. One cannot long lack such things without feeling their ansence. (the keeping plave (pg27))
"i hid in back of box with wheels, i am very clever."
