MornirKirara is pleased to present the Mystics' Ball photo for 2010 (Now in wallpaper size ;))
MornirKirara raised her hands and squints her eyes in a professional manner considering how exactly she's meant to set up the shot for this year's Mystics' Ball. 2007 was easy enough - it was a big hall. Sadly, the 2008 shots were all lost through a crash of her computer. 2009 - well, MornirKirara was more determined they ever to get it right - but then the organisers decided it would be fun to have the ball in multiple
locations. I mean - what does she look like she's capable of doing?!?
But - up to the Challenge, MK donned on her rings (after they had been retrieved from [strike]Malik[/strike] Gollum) and jumped into puddles, setting off throughout the worlds with her trusty camera.
At the banks of the River Anduin
saw Arwen greeting her grandmother Galadriel. Her date, Rushton, was looking very very fine in his suit. Doc Dave and Kella were flying high - as kites (glitter was strickly forbidden this year) while dolls were a popular theme with Jes and Cameo dressed as a pair and Raven-as-Neptune Fantasy Barbie and Alad-as-GI Joe strutted their stuff along the banks. Louis and Kimby had a wintery theme and MisfitMind and Dardelan donned head gear. Maz and Swallow turned up as a very stylish pair of cards and it became apparent why Deb chose for her and her date Reuvan to be dressed up in something to keep themselves cool... when Swallow started taking his shirt off by the river banks.
Once the Horten der fangirls
started assimilating autoresponse messages, MK took her snapshot and decided that perhaps it was time to head over to another world.
Into the next puddle, with her gold ring, MK's feet started a tapping as an ever-so-catchy tune welcomed her to The Cantina
. The band were well underway of the xth rendition of the song - it never gets old. MK was intially startled by a few things upon entering. It wasn't because of Helena and Petr dancing with R2D2 to the band, the cabbage patch doll or latern hanging from the room nor was it Aofie and her date as life sized foods, and it couldn't have been Yoda serving drinks at the bar (twouldn't be a Mystics' Ball without him!). No, it was more that Yoda was serving Bec tea at the bar... and at the same time it seemed that Spike (that devilishly good looking vampire who somehow makes it to Obernet parties even though he's not explicitly invited to them) was making moves at (an uncomplaining) Tanya! And Bec... Bec was just at the bar sipping her tea while her inner fangirl and sense of reason were raging inner war.
Not wanting to get caught up in what was clearly becoming a lover's pentagon (Tanya, Spike and Bec x 3 at least), MK pressed her shutter button and headed over to: Cair Paravel
. Here, MK had to keep herself from drooling at the ever so handsome Prince Caspian guarded by the ever so cute Reepicheep. Bec also seemed to be somewhat present (and MK noted that there would be no patting of Caspian's hair). Elspeth was Caspian's date and MK had to battle through quite a crowd to see why this particular location seemed so popular. Sezza and Kimby, with their dates had prime positions on the balconies, and Dragon Mornir and Powyrs had taken to the sky. Stephen and Elm had the staircase while the floor held quite a crowd including Avialle + Matthew, LittleSadEyes + Brocade, Eilidh + Gilbert, Lioness + date (MK couldn't tell who it was with the shield covering their face!) Rilla + Ode and Agyllian and Bruna standing away from the crowd (even though Dardelan wasn't in at Cair Paravel at the time, he was taking no chances with the date he had scored this year!).
As MK got closer to what the crowd was gathered around, MK wasn't surprised to see that Min (dressed as her favourite beverage) and Domick right up front, barely suppressing their glee at a certain Master of Obernewtyn all dishelved from his earlier attire, attached to a poll and covered in honey and ants! Apparently, Rushton had insulted Prince Caspian of some nature and this was his punishment.
Although MK highly disapproved of such frivolities, she took a picture none-the-less and tried not to dwell on the thought of Rushton covered in honey. Instead, she thought she had better return to the Mystics' Ball Entrance to see what her date was getting up to.
When she had last left The Woods between the Worlds
, her 'date' Malik was busy wrecking havoc with the spork she had given him as part of their costume. Through some odd/convenient predictions, the rebel leader had also managed to amass a pawn army of those guests whose dates had not yet made an appearance. MK stood with Zieria + Tomrick and Firefall + Daffyd (well, as close as they could get considering the mass of feathers on their costumes) and wondered why the security penguin had not done anything about it yet.
Meanwhile, Zarak and Ariadne 'shook things up' stealing a member or two away from Malik's army.
Sadly, before anyone would see how Malik would exactly fail with his latest plot, the Mystics' Ball came to a close. MK took her final picture and went away to develop her film.
MornirKirara would like to thank this year's organisers Bec and Min for putting together another fantastic
ball for the members of Obernewtyn.net. MornirKirara would have also extended her appreciation to the main ball organiser Deb, but MK's not quite sure if she has quite forgiven Deb for pairing her off with the spork weilding maniac.
Malik: Why? We won an award didn't we - that's twice in a row for me!
Deb: And technically, you gave him the spork.
MK: *is not listening*
MornirKirara would also like to thank Agyllian and Min for assistance in the photo making process and all members who got into the spirit and dressed up, providing some wonderful images for this year's picture.
The Mystics' Ball 2009 was fantastic as always, and MornirKirara's sure that she's not the only one looking forward to the ball (one of a couple she hears ;)) for 2010!
Cricket 1: Oi! How come we didn't get a mention in the write up?
Cricket 2: The hired help don't get a mention apparently. Or rather, any hired help with 6 legs aren't noteworthy. Well fine Obernetters! I'd like to see how you go next year without the crickets chirping in the background.
Cricket 1: Yeah! Take that!
Cricket 2: I wonder if we should talk to the ants... although they got a mention in that Master of Obernewtyn's honey.
Cricket 1: Maybe we should have eaten the honey instead.
Cricket 2: Oh, but could ants do sound effects like we could?
Cricket 1: No no. It takes a special kind of insect to do what we do.
Cricket 2: I hear ya mate!
