Thanks Maruman for starting up the thread... hopefully we get some more members to discuss with us? Otherwise this will be our shiny wonderful new thread... I don't think anyone should have any objections to it?
Okay, it's my turn to recommend or discuss some good Korean series/movies and Taiwanese series... I'll start with Korean considering that's how I started it all.
It all began with My Sassy Girl movie. It is THE most awesome movie ever, funny, cute, and a bit sad too. Check it out at
~Link~ This place is where I watch all my series, otherwise I obtain them by... "other" means ;) It was such an awesome popular movie (even amongst non Koreans) that Hollywood decided to make an English version, which of course flopped being that it wasn't nearly as fabulous! See trailer
~Link~ Trust me, Korean version is BETTER!
Another fantastic one with the same actress (who now in Korea is one of the most popular actresses even after all these years!) is called Windstruck. This one is also funny and cute, but a lot sad too. This movie made me ball my eyes out.
~Link~There are a few other movies I've watched but to get anyone started on Korean series/movies those two are the way to go!
The very first Korean series I watched was Full House. Who could forget about Full House! Maruman, you seem to have forgotten it :P It is another fantastic series!
~Link~ And how could I possibly forget when it introduced me to the uniqueness of Korean series, and of course the hot Rain (Bi). He is a Korean pop star and also dabbled a little in acting. For reference check out my signature - the little guys dancing is Rain, dancing some moves from his one of his latest songs, Rainism (from album by the same name!).
I then quickly followed watching Goong aka Princess Hours (as suggested by Maruman) which is an awesome series. The actress Yoon Eun Hye is fantastic in this role.
To watch another very recent series with the same actress in it, to see how versatile she is, check out Coffee Prince. It is my all time favourite series.
~Link~ She's a girl who prefers to pretend to be a boy to help her family make money in this series... and helps this guy (played by Gong Yoo) to set up a Coffee Shop... a must watch definitely!
OMG I almost forgot about My Girl... another series must watch!
~Link~I've watched a whole heap of others, can't recall now... but definitely catch Kim Sam Soon, Maruman, it's the most hilarious series ever... and btw where the heck do you get so cheap series?? Do you get them with English subs?? I need to know! :P
Taiwanese series now... Definitely check out Devil Beside You which is based on a manga by the same name. Starring Rainie Yang (no not related to Korean Rain :P) who is also a Taiwanese female singer!
~Link~For a similar kind of show with the same cast also check out Why Why Love
~Link~The most recent Taiwanese series I've watched is Romantic Princess
~Link~ which stars two of the singers from Taiwanese boy group Farhenheit... and the main actress is also popular singer Angela Chang. It's a sweet one, even though Angela's acting may have [censored] me off sometimes. Wu Chun and Calvin (the boys from Fahrenheit) definitely are worth it ;)
Hana Kim
~Link~ is another Taiwanese one that I've watched. It is also based on a manga, and was actually first made by the Japanese... due to success the Taiwanese followed... and I believe the Koreans are following quickly... I haven't watched the Jap version, though apparently there are differences. But the Taiwanese one is worth watching due to the fact that Wu Chun (Fahrenheit) is also in it! Also another singer from Fahrenheit is in it, Jiro, who is absolutely hilarious. Also one of the singers from SHE, Ella, stars as the main actress! This one is hilarious... I definitely recommend this one to you, Maruman, if you like that Brown Sugar Macchiato. It's about a girl who is in love with this high jump guy (played by Wu Chun), she likes him so much she convinces her parents to let her study at the same school as him, neglecting to tell them that it's a boys school... so funny coz the character played by Jiro actually falls for her, and thinks himself gay... he is so funny in this role!
If anything I reckon this thread will be us recommending series... haha that's what I've done thus far... but any discuss that pops up would be awesome!! :) I also need some good recommendations from anyone!!
