Quigley Down Under was a great film!
I think John Barry should do the soundtrack, as his score for Dances With Wolves was superb!
or
James Horner, who did the score for Willow
is there going to be a soundtrack??
this all leads to the obernewtyn being a movie theory
firstly, i need to understand the Obernewtyn Movie's Setting.........
is it going to be mysterious like Harry Potter?
is it going to be those boring films that wins Oscars?
Happy and Bright film?
A Quick and Exciting Film? eg~ JUrassic Park?
the beat and rthyme of the music affects the composer that's suitable for the Song
I reckon it should be mysterious like Harry Potter, but not AS mysterious.I mean, maybe like Lord Of The Rings - but not as epic.
Catch on??
Isobelle's said previously that she's ambivalent on Ober Chrons being turned into a movie, so at the moment this isn't going to happen.
She did mention that she's still waiting for Peter Jackson to contact her though [img]http://s2.images.proboards.com/wink.gif" alt=";)" border="0"/>
I think i'd prefer someone else to do a movie of Obercron though. Peter Jackson did a good job on LOTR, but he missed bits out and certain scenes in the Fellowship annoyed me (like where Frodo is supposed to stand against the black riders on his own, and that blasted elf woman comes to his rescue!)
Well...when it comes down to it, Isobelle has the final say. If she wants to turn it into a movie she may seek out other people. She just mentioned in a letter that she's waiting for Peter Jackson to contact her (if he does [img]http://s2.images.proboards.com/wink.gif" alt=";)" border="0"/> ) before deciding whether or not a movie would be a good idea.
She hasn't really got Peter Jackson contacting her though [img]http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif" alt=":P" border="0"/> she was kidding.
Ah, but what you must understand about LOTR is that the film made changes to make it more accesible to modern audiences.
That's why Arwen got a bigger part, because it needed more female characters, it was too boy-orientated and it was kinda sexist (even though Eowyn and Galadriel, the only female parts in the the book are both very strong women).
The LotR movies also added in comedy, because the book is a bit lacking in that area.
OberChron doesn't have EITHER of those problems.

Instead of a film, how about a miniseries?
If the books were turned into a film, a lot of stuff may be missed out, whereas a miniseries could contain most of the stuff from the book
Maybe we could start a petition?
well, maybe we could write our own, and present it to IC to get her opinion?
If you really want it to happen, the best thing is to write to Isobelle and see what her views are on it, or if she's changed them since I last brought the topic up with her.
The decision is hers in the end.
That's very true.
Part of me would like to see it happen, but another part of me is wary in case the story is ruined by having it as a film
I don't think a movie could depict the book properly.. how would the movie show something like the use of empathy powers and mind alterings etc?
As for the soundtrack, maybe the person who did the house of flying daggers and hero soundtrack. [img]http://s2.images.proboards.com/wink.gif" alt=";)" border="0"/>
Am I the only person who can imagine a modern, up-beat soundtrack to an Obernewtyn movie as working really well?
I'm thinking of the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack, actually - obviously, that whole movie was VERY adventurous, the soundtrack included - but if the OberChron soundtrack was adventurous in the same way - I can just see it working. It would offer a balance, of sorts - Ober is set in a medieval-type period...
I don;t think I've explained myself very well, I apologise...
