I HAVE FINALLY SEEN THE MOVIE!!!!
So, after my local cinema rudely stopped showing the film two days before I was free to go see it, I've had to wait until the DVD release...
I don't think I have much more to add to the discussions engaging in a few pages back. It was enjoyable, the scenerey was simply breath-taking, and every line quoted from the book made me feel good from the accompanying sense of familiarity.
There were awkward parts, and some that were just not that enjoyable, but overall I think it was a good adaption of the novel.
I watched the movie tonight and enjoyed it. I'm now starting the book. :P
Are we able to chat about the other Tomorrow books here?
Sure, I don't see why not...how far are you into the Jossie? Are you still listening to the audio books?
I just finished the second book, and now just waiting for the third to come in at the library. It really is awesome to be able to listen to the series while in the car - because otherwise I wouldn't have any time to read the series. And I find it really is captivating and interesting.
It really has been many years since I read these books because I was
totally shocked when they found Chris dead. It was really unexpected! It was a nice and kind of sad epilogue as Ellie reflected that she loved the others, but Chris was really on the outside of the group. Perhaps because he felt outside of the group and maybe he always felt a bit like a misfit - unfortunately he couldn't deal with it, and that led to his demise, I guess.
I thought it was good that they failed at their first attempt to do something, because in that way it's more realistic that they don't always succeed.
The other thing that really struck me was how Ellie spoke about certainty or uncertainty. I need to get the proper quote from the book. It really struck me. She was describing how she was the type of person who wasn't really certain and that really was a good trait to have because it meant that you amend and change things. Isobelle Carmody also spoke about this particular topic when I spoke to her. I can also certainly relate to this topic, and believe that it is true.
I will have to find the exact quote, but anyone know which one I'm talking about?
Can't wait to see what they do for the movie! Anyone know when we can expect the 2nd movie??
^ According to the movie database, the second movie will come out next year, and the third the year after that. Not sure how reliable that is...
This is a quote I really liked:
"Sometimes you just have to be brave. You have to be strong. Sometimes you just can't give in to weak thoughts. You have to beat down those devils that get inside your head and try to make you panic. You struggle along, putting one foot a little bit ahead of the other, hoping that when you go backwards it won't be too far backwards, so that when you start going forwards again you won't have too much to catch up." (pg 271)
Even though it seems to be talking about Ellie being brave in the face of horrific and terrifying things, I think it can also relate to just living life when it gets you down. I really like it
I still can't find the quote about certainty! I am determined!
