Ah, I loved Fruits Basket! I read the whole thing in a few days I think. And really, Akito is my favourite character out of the entire story, hands down. I have so much love for him. /her.
I want to read Durarara now, but I'm much more interested in reading a translation of the light novels. Is there one existing?
Not that I've found. :/
Let me know if you come across one. 'Cause I REALLY want to read them.
Shiny new books arrived at work today - it was all I could do not to open them up and just read.
I got two volumes of "Bride of the Water God". The Artwork in that is just amazing!
^ I love Bride of the Water god! The art really is so lovely! I love the author's panda comics at the end of the volumes as well....they are rather amusing X'D
So I have re-read loads of fruits basket in the last day or so...I just thought to myself "I'll just read a little, it always makes me so happy" ...may have gone a little overboard...but in the best possible way! XD
Good grief, I just realised that I have bought about 90 manga volumes in just over 5 months. And I wonder where my money is going ...
I'm finally up to date with Kuragehime, and I'm not all that pleased with where it is going. :/

That is an incredible amount Nef O_O It prompted me to count how many I've bought this year, and I'm proud to say that it's only 53 :P
My purchasing slowed considerably when I embraced reading scanlations, as I wasn't reliant on the books for my fix (and I could thus buy at a reasonable pace) but there has been a recent surge when book depository had a 10% off sale - $7 manga volumes? Sweet!
I am in Skip Beat world right now - that manga is a seriously powerful fantasy. I keep seeing the world through this overly dramatic lense that sees everything as a test or an audition, and I have to blow everyone away with my wikkid skillz ...
And today brings the conclusion of my Fruits Basket journey! I shall buy the final two volumes and read it tonight!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!
I'm excited about the new Kuroshitsuji story arc, although it isn't as exciting as the previous one yet.
Now I'm depressed. No more fruits basket.
Reading Skip Beat! The anime ended at such a bad point, right in the middle of an arc. *sigh* I had no choice but to pick it up.

It really is terrible to reach the end of Fruits Basket. The immense feeling of loss is no better after a second and third reading either :(
What's this Bride of the Water God of whom you all speak?
I have to resume my Fruits Basket re-read... if only I can remember when I got up to the last time...

I still haven't been able to plug up my feelings of loss with other manga after finishing Fruits Basket yet... already considering a reread and I've only just finished it! D=
Would someone like to give me a few details about Skip Beat? Considering picking it up. :)
So Skip Beat is Full of YAY! Kyoko is a 16 year old girl who drops out of school to follow her best friend/boy she likes Shou Fuwa to Tokyo and be house-keeper for him while he becomes a star. When she finds out he's been using her and plans to get rid of her, she goes MENTAL! and she decides to become a star bigger than him just to get revenge.
The problem? She has no talent. She does have these little demons that appear when she's angry though (and she's angry a lot!). In her hunt for stardom, there are suspense filled auditions, enemies to overcome, and Ren Tsugara, the BIGGEST star there is (and Shou Fuwa's most hated person). Ren doesn't seem to like Kyoko though ...
It's an over the top, overly melodramatic, and UTTERLY hilarious manga. And there's LOTS of it.
As for Bride of the Water God, it's a Korean manga based on the story/practice/myth (I don't know, it just comes from Korean folk tales) of a girl being sacrificed to the water god in order to bring rain to the village. Such a girl is cast off in a boat and becomes the bride of the water god. Anyway, Soah is cast off in a boat and wakes up in the water god's palace ... but he's a child. There's intrigues and betrayal all round as the gods play politics, and Soah gets involved (and falls for the mysterious Mui).
It's unexpectedly funny in some parts and the artwork is A-MAAAAAYYYY-ZING (say it out loud and that's how good it is). My only issue is with the way the artist draws hands - sometimes it just looks wrong ...
I know this isn't manga - but isn't there a Fruit's Basket anime? Is that any good?
I also know they've made a Japanese live action of Skip Beat.
I love the artwork for Bride of the Water God! It's such lovely work!
I lost all motivation in continuing with Ouran! Especially since I started the anime and didn't want to get too far ahead.
Meh - the anime stops really early into Ouran - they just cobble together a story to close the whole thing off. Don't be discouraged - Keep going!
With Fruits basket, there is an anime (which is so cute!) but again, it stops about 6 volumes into the story and cobbles together an ending. Much as I like the anime (especially Shigure and his school girl song) the manga is SOOOOOO much better!
I have to get hold of the Skip Beat anime and live action. I recently watched the Hana Kimi live action (then started reading the manga - yay! Something else to read!) and I got really frustrated at it - because whoever did the translating did a fairly good job right up to the last (most important) episode, then gave the job to a half-wit. I still don't really know what happened, I can only guess from what I saw happening. The subtitles were so bad that they actually just confused me even more! They were about 20 seconds behind the action and were pure gibberish! GAH!
^ I really liked how they cobbled off ouran in the anime though, there was a sort of open closure there that was better than with some other anime that have cut off at a certain point in the manga~~ Love the manga soo much though~
New Kuragehime chapter, poor Kuranosuke D:
Can I just say: "Library Wars: In Love and War" - READ IT! In my opinion, it's made of win.
I've just started reading one called Dengeki Daisy, a recommendation from a friend. Reserving judgement for now.
GAH! Skip beat needs to be written faster - I'm catching up to it, and what will I do then???? Also, Library wars is FAR too short.
By the way, did anyone say whether there was a translation of the Durarara light novels?

I'm waiting for Skip Beat to be updated. I'm really impressed by Yoshiki Nakamura's deep understanding of characters - but even so, I'm absolutely addicted. I'm making a point to force myself not to be impatient because she draws a new chapter more than once a month (six times every four months, on average from my calculations) which is quite fast.
I'm also reading Dengei Daisy, which is very good as well. It did introduce me to a lovely band, Tin Hat, through indirect means. It's about a girl who is an orphan, who contacts a friend of her brother's called Daisy through a cellphone that was the only thing her brother gave her before he died a year prior to the story's start. She's never met Daisy before, doesn't know his real name, what he looks like, how old he is etc. but she knows that if she is in trouble, he will protect her and look after her.
I'm starting to love Dengeki Daisy... is just the kind of wildly quirky, unrealistic thing that I like.
I started reading Blackbird, but I stopped after I tired of the repetition and constant kissing and crying...
I've decided that the amount of shojo manga I've been reading lately is frying my brain. So what do I do? I start watching Ao No Exorcist XD
I tried reading Ao No Exorcist ages ago, but I didn't really get into it. Maybe I should give it another try.
