I didn't realise the bells were going to cause so many different reactions. Hopefully that bodes well for the actual ficlet. :D
So, two things:
1. I went and upated my list of OberNo goals with something that's actually quantifiable: word counts. Or, in the case of my YouTube channel, videos.
2. I returned to my NaNo story tonight! While I was at work today, I remembered that three of my characters were on the verge of getting royally drunk in an attempt to forget some crummy things that had happened earlier that day and I just wanted to be part of that fun. And then I added a character who has a habit of making things confusing for my main character and things just got awesome, if I do say so myself. I only wrote 500 words but I'm going to add some more after this (I went straight to the bit I wanted to write the most, so I have a giant gap to fill in).
It was so much fun! And to celebrate, here is my out-of-context snippet for tonight!
“I’m sorry,†I said. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Really, I’m just... really sorry.â€
It seemed to be of vital importance that Al understood just how sorry I was. And right at that moment, it was a lot. Nothing was more important than being sorry for Al. For some reason.
“Um, thanks,†said Al, backing away from the force of my enthusiastic sympathy.
“For what?â€
“For… being sorry?â€
“Oh yeah.â€
Oh, Al. You weren't meant to do
any of the things you're doing but it somehow works. Damn characters, thinking they know what's best for the story.
