Boys Over Flowers is Hana Yori Dango is Japanese, yeah? I remember trying to watch it in Taiwanese but I did not like their performances. I have watched Goong or Princess Hours in Korean and it was pretty awesome. I am more into Japanese series. Asians are awesome with their endless creativity.
I watch
Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend)
Liar Game
and Nana, which are all based on mangas I have read.
Anyone still watching kdramas???
I recently finished Hong Gil Dong. It was AWESOME!! It's a period drama, but not totally. They infused bits of modern stuff in. It was really great to watch, beginning to end!
And I also finished You're Beautiful. If you guys liked Boys Over Flowers, you'll definitely LOVE You're Beautiful.
I finished watching You're Beautiful too before I left for HK and Korea... and guess what I bought in Korea :) Pig Rabbit! I LOVE it! It did remind me of BOF actually!
When I get home I'm going to check out Iris
I've seen your beautiful on shelves, but my mum won't let me get it :-/ Have you guys watched Atashinchi No Danshi? It stars the lead actor of Hana Kimi :D I might be going japan this year as part of school, we're spending 3 weeks there one week with a host family, another week bumming around XD and then the last week in Tokyo! ^_^ so excited..
I've also watched a few other dramas and movies, but I haven't had the time >_>

The only maybe Taiwanese movie I've watched is The Duel. I saw it once half of it on SBS at about a million o'clock. Then spent about three years tracking it down from one of the character names Simon Blow Snow which having recently seen stepmom really stuck in my head. The only place i could find it in the original dub with English subtitles was Taiwan which is the basis for my calling it a "Taiwanese" movie.
It's sort of like the movie that i'm always looking for when i watch an asian movie. i love love loved Hero even though it's a blockbuster and not heaps cheesey like the Duel, also love House of Flying Daggers, lol the Forbiden Kingdom. Those and Chrouching Tiger Hidden Dragagon which i don't remeber seeing but know that i have are the only one that i've seen what do you suggest along the same vein?
Jossie - Oh Iris! Yeah, I've heard that's a good drama. Haven't watched it yet, but it's on my list of next-to-watch drama, after I finish CHUNO (Slave Hunters), which I recommend you to watch!! It's a big hit in Korea at the moment, TV ratings are like #1 every episode after the first few episodes. It's so different, period drama again (I like period dramas, haha) but story line style is great! Love it. Action is awesome, music is awesome. Kinda like Hong Gil Dong and The Legend! Chuno is probably on par with The Legend. That drama was HUGE when it came out. Have you seen it? It's heaps awesome (besides the ending) haha. But to some people, ending was sufficient. I wanted more! =D
Fatcat - I've seen some Japanese dramas, but it's not on my priority list. haha, My priorities are Korean, Taiwanese and then Japanese. Anime is another story. I love animes! The one you mentioned, I haven't seen. I wish to go to Japan too! And KOREA! Aww, why won't your mum let you get it? =/
Elmo - The Duel? For a moment there, I got it confused with the Korean movie, The Duelist! >.< Hmm, martial arts-hero type Taiwanese movies? I've seen all the ones you've mentioned. Yeah I liked them all too. If you like those kinda movies, maybe you'll like these ones:
Fearless (Jet Li)
Mulan (Vicki Zhao)
Dragon Tiger Gate (Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse)
You may want to check out The Duelist too =]
I need to get my hands on the new Mulan, I loved the cartoon!!
I am wishing FatCat was around, it's so sad to talk about Korean dramas all on my own.
I'm going to rank the Korean series that I've watched this year:
1. My Girlfriend is a Gumiho
This is a slow to get into series, I had to stick with it for a bit, but it IS SO WORTH IT! It's cute, adorable, and funny. I cried terribly in the last episode - first time I've done that in a long while with a Korean series. Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah are fantastic!! I will have to write a full review, but this is going in as one of my favourite K-dramas of all time! It was pretty awesome! And unpredictable!
2. Woman Who Still Wants to Marry
As you can see below in my signature, it's another one I was really obsessing about. It's different, and Kim Bum as eye candy definitely helped a lot. This one did not get a lot of good ratings or limelight, when it really deserved it. It was hilarious, and I really enjoyed it!
3. Personal Taste
This is another good series, but not nearly as good as the above two. It's one of those more typical rom-coms, whilst the first two I've mentioned are more original in its story telling. This one was pretty good too what with Lee Min Ho acting soooo gallantly!
4. Pasta
Another underrated drama, but I can understand why, since it was a more mediocre and slow paced series. Not a lot really happened, but it was kind of nice to not have that tragic dramatic sort of climax Korean series can tend to have. I enjoyed it and enjoyed drooling over the yummy food!
Currently watching:
*Sungkyunkwan Scandal
I'm really enjoying this period drama - it's not historically accurate apparently, but it's funny and different nonetheless. I haven't watched a lot of period dramas, but I am enjoying this one so far.
*Playful Kiss
Remake of It Started with a Kiss (Taiwanese version), based on a manga. So flawed, but it's light fluff, so why not! Still watching this one.
Hi Jossie. LOL at your first sentence.
Wow, I haven't been on here for aaaggeeesss.
But I'm still watching Kdramas! :]
Replying to the dramas you've seen:
1. I started watching it. Yeah it's good, I quite like it, but I haven't finished it yet. Not because I don't like it, but because I got distracted with other dramas, like I usually do, haha. I will finish it tho!
2. Haven't heard of this one, might check it out
3. Ahh, I saw this. Started watching it, but never finished it. Again, it was alright, but I found it dragging a bit near the end, and when another kdrama caught my interest, I put it on hold. Don't know if I'll ever finish it. Maybe one day.
4. For a moment, I thought you were talking about a Taiwanese drama. Hmm .. haven't heard it, might check it out.
5. Sungkyunkwan Scandal is reaaalllly good. I liked it! I finished it. There's proof I liked it enough to finish it, haha. But, the ending ... haha I'll let you finish it and you can tell me your opinion about the ending.
6. Ohgosh, I tried watching this. I've seen the Taiwanese version and loved it sooo much. I even watched the second season. But the kdrama version, for some reason, watching the first 5 mins of it, I was like .. what theeee ... and the male actor (He was in You're Beautiful, and yes he's good looking) his portrayal of that character is different. Not mean enough, I reckon. That said, I've only watched the first episode and I stopped. Don't think I'll bother to dl the rest.
Kdramas that I'm watching (in no particular order):
1. Joseon X-Files; Secret Investigation Record
Only 12 episodes, but it is really good! Loved it! Wished there were more episodes! Kinda like the korean version of the X-Files. haha, Some (most) episodes were scary for me. I only watched them during the day HAha, never at night. Too scary. I'm a wuss when it comes to scary movies.
2. Swallow The Sun.
It's not bad so far. Still watching. This is one of those heavy dramas. Big locations and action kinda thing.
3. Baker King, Kim Tak Gu
I was watching this. I like it when the characters were young, but when they grew up .. I lost interested a bit. I just think, the 'older version' of the character .. how to say ... I just don't think that would have been how the 'younger character' .. would have turned out like. It's suppose to be really good. High ratings etc, so I'll eventually finish it.
4. Dong Yi
I don't know if I've mentioned this drama before. It's an extremely long one, 60 episodes. I'm upto episode 50 and loving it. It's an awesome drama. It's great. This is a period drama, so like, not modern. I just really like it, haha.
5. Secret Garden
Hilarious drama. About a man and woman switching bodies after entering a Secret Garden. Takes a while for the main storyline to start, but it's not too boring. I was anxious for the switch to happen early on, but it didn't until episode 4 or or something. Their acting of each other isn't spot on, seems different, but I still think it's hilarious.
I have not watched much, a few episodes of 'meteor garden' (version of hana yori dango) and an episode of 'it started with a kiss'. they were both quite good, from what I saw ^_^

Linja, I finally, finally watched Secret Garden and LOVED IT! I finished it easily in 3 days before I started back at work. And you're right, it was hilarious. I love it because it's got a fantastic cast with two fantastic leads, who have an amazing chemistry. I love Hyun Bin so much! I think this is one of the best OSTs I've heard in ages. Songs used at the right times, the songs evoking such powerful emotions. This will be the first OST that I will buy because it's so good!
I also think it's a really flawed drama but combined with two great leads, hilarious dialogue and antics, I can overlook it. They could have done a lot more with the body switching tool, and it seriously wasn't explained properly.
Here are my 2010 drama listings after watching Secret Garden:
1. My Girlfriend is a Gumiho
2. Secret Garden
3. Woman Who Still Wants to Marry
4. Personal Taste
5. Pasta
I can't seem to get back into Playful Kiss or Sungkyunkwan Scandal. The following I still would like to watch (they are 2010 dramas):
-Athena
-Rock Rock Rock
-Runway Plan B
-Coffee House
I've heard these ones are really good.
I also have Dong Yi, and from your recommendations, I will try to watch it. But back to work now so it's difficult!

So, out of the 5 dramas I started watching, I only ended up finishing 1, 4 and 5. =/I have a bad habbit of not finishing dramas, even if they are okay. I dunno, I think it's because I've seen SOOO many dramas, that a drama has to really catch my attention within the first 5 episodes (10 would be pushing it, or I might be watching it for the actor etc) or I'll be inclined to be lazy and not finish it off. I'll start some other drama and leave that aside.
Recent dramas that I've not finished, but aren't too bad:
My Girlfriend is a Gumiho
Personal Taste
I'm currently watching (well trying to finish off .. slowly):
Dae Mul
Runaway Plan B
Queen of Reversal
Dream High
Smile, You
Jossie, are you watching anything REALLY REALLY good atm???
EDIT: I'm watching 49 Days and it's REALLY GOOD!!!
This drama has me interested. I can definitely see myself finishing this drama. Finally, a good drama!
Linja, I watched Dream High which was full of very bad singing and acting, but it was a guilty pleasure. I wasn't addicted to it though, and it wasn't the best drama in the world. So I would suggest giving it a miss really.
I finished watching 49 Days recently which was such a sad but good series. Not too sad, which is good, because I've seen ones where I literally felt like my eyes weren't ever going to stop leaking tears!
One I'm currently watching at the moment is City Hunter. It's REALLY, REALLY, REALLY good! It's got some good suspense, action, some good acting, with some good romance too. Of course, eye candy in the form of Lee Min Ho (Boys Over Flowers, Personal Taste) always helps the case! I definitely recommend this one, because it's really good! Watch the first two episodes and you'll be interested I'm sure! ;)
Watching anything really, really good at the moment, Linja?
Welp, I've done it again. I haven't finished off any of the dramas I listed in my previous post. LOL. Not that they are bad, just didn't carry me all the way through. I might finish a couple of them some other time .. when I have nothing else to watch (which is hardly ever).
Yeah, I finished 49 days! Good drama. I attempted City Hunter and yes, it's pretty good .. I'm about halfway but I stopped cos I was checking out another drama and I haven't gotten back to it. I will TRY to finish it cos I know it's pretty good. I have a bad habit of starting new dramas without finishing the ones I currently watch =/
I watched Queen Seon Duk. It's 64 episodes, period drama again. LOL. It's very very awesomely good. Kinda like Dong Yi. About women from low status working up to being a high figurehead. It's VERY VERY good. The actresses, esp the 'bad person' is SUCH a GREAT actress.
I started watching Tree With Deep Roots. I've heard alot about this drama. It's written by the same person who wrote the story for Queen Seon Duk and so far, 6 episodes in, it's looking to be a really awesome drama.
At the same time, I'm also watching:
Lie To Me
Scent of Woman
High Kick Through The Roof
Killer Girl K
My favourite version of boys before flowers will always be the Japanese one ^_^
Hana Yori Dango took over my life for a number of weeks where I solidly worked through all the episodes. I didn't enjoy the movie as much, though.
As far as K-Dramas go, I've just finished watching My Girl and Secret Garden, and now part way through Gumiho (My Girlfriend is A Nine-Tailed Fox). Gumiho is reaaallly cute so far, but my favourite is still My Girl :D The heroine is so funny!
I LOVE MY GIRL!! One of my all time favourite. Love it so much, I've seen it a few times =] Good choices! Hmm .. Yes, Gumiho, I started that one a while ago .. it is cute. Haven't finished it =/
You might enjoy Wonderful Life starring Eugene and Kim Jae Won. That is also a favourite of mine.
I'm currently following Rooftop Prince which is hilarious and so good! You need to see it.
I'm also following The King 2 Hearts, which is not so great as Rooftop Prince, but the chemistry between the two main leads is really cute!
Ok, I'm taking the plunge and jumping into K-drama. First up will be Secret Garden and Rooftop prince.
Further recommendations would be much appreciated ...
Can I just update and say EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
That's all ...
Isn't it just so, Nef??? :P
Addictive stuff!
This is bad - I'm gonna have trouble doing ANYTHING but go to work and watch k-drama ...
So many people watching Asian dramas now! :D

I've only watched one Korean drama so far, My Princess and am really finding it living up to its category of drama. Compared to the Taiwanese and Japanese dramas I've watched, it's quite heavy, but still enjoyable.
Here's the list of what I've seen/am watching in order:
Hana Kimi (2007) [Japanese]
Hana Kimi (2006) [Taiwanese] --> For the most part it sticks to the manga's storyline, however the end is very different... and not at all to my liking. But other than the end, I loved this version, especially all of the cast except for the girl playing the lead. I just want to say one thing: Dr Umeda in this one was the best of all three versions. He was perfect :)
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (2011) [Japanese] --> this is the Japanese remake of Hana Kimi, and it was as amazing as the original. I preferred some of the cast in this one over the 2007 and the 2006.
Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac (Movie) [Japanese]
Romantic Princess (2007) [Taiwanese] --> it was nice and rather light. I loved seeing the male lead from the Taiwanese Hana Kimi in another role, and as a result of watching this drama I got some new music :)
