Thanks for the grammatical advice! I have to admit I am a little rusty in that area. The 'war cry against Hitler' poem is actually just about Spring :) Spring was the theme for our poetry night and for some reason 'Springtime For Hitler' popped into my head. I have no idea why!!
In other news, I have been invited to co-host a poetry event :) I'm going to be teaming up with a fellow poet to read some of C.P. Cavafy's work
~Link~ Monster
I am a monster
A being of immesurable size
I am a city
Of side-alleys and food cards
Of hoodlums and harlots.
I am an ocean
My waves are my words
Crashing on your ears to
Calm or cause your fears.
Sand trickles down my toes
Dirt tickles all my toes.
I am an instrument
Not one to be used, but played.
My arms are attached to marionette strings
My shoulders weighed down by imaginary wings
Just itching to rip through my skin and fly me away.
I am not my meek voice or carefully chosen words
Nor am I as small as I seem.
I am beauty and terror entwined within
A cacophony of sound and rain and hail and wind
A colossal giant with teardrops more destructive than original sin.
A magnificent maleficent monster.
Yes, that Is who I am.
I am a monster
But I am not the kind to terrify your children
Or torment your captives
But a terrific and kind monster
A terribly carefree monster
Limbs too clumsy to handle
Mouth too open to close.
I am me.
