I think the girl cast as Ellie looks more like a Fiona. She is so fine boned, I imagine Ellie to be a bit broder in the face. I agree that Homer is a good casting but the kid needs to bulk up a little. Can't wait to see just how dirty these kids can get out in the bush, they're all so shiny and perfect.
I have my doubts about this being a good movie. But I'm willing to give it a go...

I really hope they do actually make them dirty. None of that random artistic mud patch on the side of the face stuff. I want dirt in their hair, on their clothes, under their fingernails. Everywhere.
That's the good thing that works for the novels too though: the age group they are aimed at. Considering they have a timeless feel to them, the fact that they are aimed at teens who are generally pretty ignorant of politics helps keep them believable. I think this was actually acknowledged in the first book with Ellie reminiscing that she should have paid more attention to it.
Yeah! I am with you guys - artistic dirt is so annoying! Especially when it moves around their faces as the camera cuts back and foward between people! That is the worst! ::)

I think it would be really good of they got them all to do some proper farm work as part of their preparations for the movie...how can they act as farming kids if they don't know anything about farming...
good point blackbird - that would be invaluable preparation I reckon! Especially Lincoln Lewis - I have trouble seeing him as anything but a surfie...he needs to get in touch with his inner rural.

[act]tries to reserve her judgement[/act] GAH! 8-| :-/
Photo: [act]screams "I'M A LITTLE OLD RETIRED FARMER LADY FROM AMERICA!!" [/act] 8-|
...or is that just me? :P from what i can see (its the first time i've seen the pic) i think she kinda looks like one of those old ladies running a farm over in america that's all religious and whatnot :P
if they're aiming to try to get the movie in the 80's, then their suceeding :P
Lol Helena. I had a similar reaction. I can't get over the hat.
If they made her wear a hat they could've at least made it an Akoubra lol. Who wears hats like those in the country? o_O It's like a beach hat.
*shudders*
Too much makeup. Way too much makeup. She shouldn't look elegant. And I agree it should be an Akoubra hat rather than a cowboy hat.
It looks like they are trying waaaaay too hard 8-| I'm sorry but no, just no . . . she better act good.

Not only that, but I get the impression that the clothes and hat are clearly meant to look like farming clothes, yet they look brand new. I'm hoping that it is indeed near the start, and the clothing and makeup go downhill after the invasion... :-/
Yeah, not convincing at all!
Let's not panic from one photo though guys... ~:|

[act]tries to calm down[/act] :-/
nooo! I don't want her as ELLIE anyway; I Always pictured ellie to be blonde. she looks more like Fiona or maybe even Robin. but SO NOT ELLIE!
I pictured Ellie as dark, but also a bit solid. Not stocky, exactly, but strong looking and definitely not skinny. After all, she's grown up helping out on a farm.
She looks a bit too polished to my mind. But then, this is a movie and there is subtlety that won't translate from book to film.
Perhaps they are settling up the idyllic country life before it is 'destroyed by the invasion'? It could be part of setting the mood and to create contrast between the earlier and later parts of the story, and not necessarily be indicative of a general approach to both the story and realism.
They better not compromise the "aussie-ness" of it. Americans! It's our story anyway... ":(
That photo looks soooo much like McLeod's Daughters to me...
Still looks too clean though :P but I guess that would depend on what point in the movie this is from. I'm liking her a little more as Ellie though. Homer though . . . I think I'll have to see some footage to decide.

you just press the button with the tree on it, it should come up with a [ img ] [ /img] but without the spaces...
hmm.. interesting pic.. not exactly like i imagined them, but they look cute together...
Hmm I always thought Corrie as being a blonde :-|
And I wonder at your meaning of birdsnest hair Helena, cause that's generally what my hair looks like normally :P It's barely even scruffy
