Oooh, have [strike]Matthew[/strike] you been disposing of annoying pretencious students? Or is this "short" story related.
Nah, the short story is pretty eventless. No death there. And Matthew doesn't kill his students!! That would make him creepy... :)
Whats a story without a little death? Better add some dying in that short story, pronto!!
Also I think you misspelt creepier as creepy.

I will admit (though not in my poll thread) that your picture does, just slightly, lend an aura of creepiness to Matthew. (Actually that picture is completely awesome - did you draw it? I love it!!) But that portrait is the _only_ creepy thing about him :P. Thus my spelling is accurate.
Anyway, death in stories is good. Don't get me wrong. But would you settle for a bit of pain? A touch of insanity and despair?
ARGH. ARGH. I'm trying to write my short story and my partner is watching a series called the Book Club. Despite the name, it is not conducive to writing. ARGH.
Oh, insanity and despair is always fun. My favourite is not actually death at all, but rather psychological torment of any kind.
And I feel your pain, my housemate's partner has constantly been jumping in and out of my room prattling on about cartoons and other things that are apparently very important for me to know. Though I've never heard of a series called Book Club but I'm assuming it is irrelevent to short story needs as much as carttons are.
(Oh and yes, I drew it, though in my defense it took about 5 minutes)
I need to start keeping better track of how much I am actually writing. I honestly have no clue anymore since I switched programs. So I think I'll just upload my overall wordcount here occasionally, even though I've been telling the program to no longer include certain files into its wordcount. I think I have less now than I did last week, but meh. I'm currently sitting at 344,845 for everything.
WOWOWOWOW!
That's a LOT of words. [act]expires on floor at the sheer thought of writing so many words[/act]
I'm in awe.

You have a orogram that can give you a word count of more tgan one file?? What is this magic you soeak of?!
(also, that is a fairly impressive number.)
P.s. You should write a few more words. And then you should post them in a certain thread in the story den :P where's Mono when you need her?
Yep. Scrivener. It's good for being able to have everything connected to a project all available and open at once in one screen :D
As for the PS, yes I keep meaning too but I haven't had time to catch up on the pages and pages of stuff yet D:
Typed up a bunch of stuff last night/early hours of this morning. Another 3000ish words. Was mostly the beginning of book 2 stuff and I'm getting iritated with recapping. I honestly hate recapping in books that are a part of a series. (Assumedly) I've read the first book so I don't need all the summarising that tends to occur in subsequent novels. Still, I know that some amount of recapping is recommended but I'm just not sure how much and of what exactly.
[act]frustrated internal scream[/act]
Well, maybe don't recap, then? Just start writing the book. Later, go back and start reading it. If you find yourself talking about things that make absolutely no sense, then perhaps you can consider recapping. I'm not sure all series recap. I don't know that I'd bother if I ever wrote a series.
(Having said that, if you wanted to post a bit of this recapping in Prodders I'd be really happy, cos I want to know what happens in Book 1!!)
Haha, Darga, I have already written it and I have pretty much just skipped the whole recapping thing. There are indications that stuff has happened, but that's simply because they are now living with the repercussions of what happened. I just don't know if I should actually straight out say what occured or not--since the characters are pretty much trying to forget and ignore everything it doesn't feel appropriate but it leaves everything rather vague.
I might post some after some editing--if I actually get around to that. I keep distracting myself with doing the laundry, and doing the dishes, and having lunch, nd anything else I can find to do :P
Stop that! Housework must take second place to editing and writing awesome stories. Shoo! Get back to writing! There is no might about posting - it's not optional.
And.. What you could do, of course, is give me a link to both of them. I could then read them and let you know if anything is too vague.
[act]looks around innocently, peering sideways at Shonk on occasion to see if this ultra-subtle attempt at getting more snippets is going to work[/act]
PS. I showed your Matthew gif to a friend and he loved it. You're famous outside Obernet now :)
Excellent, fame! Now all I have to do is somehow get a fortune. [act]subsequently disappears behind a book entitled 'Bank Robbing for Dummies'[/act]
Anyway, your subtle hint for links would require Shonk to edit. Shonk has spent the better part of the last three days doing housework, baking cupcakes, scouring mould and writing every other book in existence to avoid doing just that. Actually, I should really pull my finger out there. According to my work plan, I need to have the first 12 chapters edited by the end of this month. I have done 2 and scribbled over the rest in highlighters. O_O
ok, so i just jumped in here to see what you guys were talking about... I am sad to say i have not read any of your work! :( However, if you are willing to post all of your stuff some where as Darga has, i could read it? From start to wherever you stop having stuff in order? Your books sound rly interesting... especially cause a dead main char is a new idea, lol.
Ya, i have to get back to sanding the kitchen ceiling now. Lucky for you, lol.
Ooh hi Dakota. I haven't posted everything like Durga has because the majority of it was written six years ago and is in patches as Im deciding what to keep and what to rewrite. Im planning to do it all over the next couple months though so I might compile and link then.
But yeah there is a whole bunch of random stuff in prodders.
That means editing is going well :D. Good work.
rofl, now if only I could do that much writing... nice work!
lol Don't worry, Dakosha, it took me a looooong time to get that much.
Only cos you kept getting distracted by stalking my skydrive, Shonk. You'd have hit -300 if you weren't doing that :P
Well maybe you should just write badly and then I wouldn't want to check it continuosly :P (NO O_O Don't do that!)

Heh, I should be able to accommodate THAT particular request without too much trouble :P. Incidentally, whose thread are we filling with junk (brainfarts! Ha I love that term!) today? [act]scrolls up[/act] Oh it's yours. That's OK then :D.
ARRRGHHH! I had some scenes and stuff that I needed to edit into some chapters typed up! I thought I wrote them up on my iPad but I can't find them anywhere! It wouldn't be on my main computer because I never write on that and larger scenes are too annoying to type on a phone. They are definitely not on the laptop other wise I would have just written them right where they belonged. My only theory is that my iPad ate them. DAAAMN YOU, APPLE!!
