I'm glad I decided to post those two poems yesterday, because the tablet they were saved on died before I could transfer the files to my laptop.
Three new poems (this seems to be a poetry week):
Trees LamentTrampled leaves
Broken dreams
Weeping sap
Paper reams
Fallen branches
Hopeless future
Deadened garden
Fruitless nature
Hollow trunk
Empty soul
Blackened stump
Never whole.
Surround SoundThe room is filled with senseless babble,
No words are clear in this rabble.
Voices loud and soft cry out
While someone at the front does shout.
The babble ceases in an instance
Now weeping's heard from a distance.
All eyes turn towards the sound
Until the sobbing girl is found.
All the noise had got too much
Almost to the point of touch
The girl reached out a shaking hand
Towards the sound, its own land.
But when she felt nothing there
Among the sound she did despair
Until the volume fell to naught
Then she found the peace she sought.
SmileMiracles do happen
I see them everyday
The way you smile at everything
That's all I need to say.
Your laughter, it's contagious,
Smiles light up all round.
There's no ail you can't cure
With your joyful sound.
So smile a little wider
That you might touch more hearts.
You've taught us well
And so we will smile as you depart.
