Yes! It has gotten strangely quiet around these parts. Welcome back, Katie. Glad you enkoyed yourself.

I saw your posts on FB and your fail boat road trip sounded epic!
It is good to have you back though, because it has been rather quiet without you here!
How did the writing go today?
It did indeed sound epic :D. Also glad you had a great time.
Awww, you lovely people. :) I definitely missed my regular updates on everyone's writing, although I did make an effort to breeze by via my phone. It doesn't make for easy reading, though!
You guys... my writing graph is so flat since I went away. I'm ashamed of it. The heatwave completely sucked my will to go near a computer and write and my hand-writing just can't keep up with my brain, so all I did was read, read, read. I salute everyone who kept going when it was hot enough to cause pens and laptops to melt.
[act]salutes[/act]
I did write a tiny bit while I was away, although mostly I was writing notes for another couple of stories. And I have written almost 700 words tonight with plans to write as much as I can before I have to head to bed. Back to work tomorrow! Yay! Lousy non-writing-based job...
Here's where things stand at the moment:
TARGET: 40,000 WORDS - CURRENT: 26,030 WORDS
WRITING PROJECTS
1. NaNo project: 16,932 of 25,000 words - (64%)
2. Write a draft of a story for the KSP Spec Fic contest: 65 of 3,500 words - (>1%)
I've literally only written the opening paragraph of the short story, but it does involve a discussion on whether pumpkins are an acceptable substitute for a ritual sacrifice, which feels like a promising start.
That does sound like a promising start--I already want to read it :P
I think the pumpkins should hug. [act]runs away[/act]
Haha, pumpkins! Sounds interesting!
Looking forward to seeing your daily words achieved :)
One last pumpkiny hug before the ritual sacrifice, which presumably comes with a post-sacrifice meal of pumpkin soup. Delicious!
I actually ended up writing over 1,000 words last night AND tonight! Progress!
TARGET: 40,000 WORDS - CURRENT: 27,613 WORDS
WRITING PROJECTS
1. NaNo project: 18,515 of 25,000 words - (74%)

Today, I am going to be all ambitious and set myself a target of getting to 20,000 words on my NaNo novel by the end of the day. This can happen!
Course it can! and lovely return to form, Katie :).
Wow. Go Katie! You can do it!!
Aaaaand done!
TARGET: 40,000 WORDS - CURRENT: 29,117 WORDS
WRITING PROJECTS
1. NaNo project: 20,019 of 25,000 words - (80%)
Now I'm taking a short break to start work on a new photobook, but I'm planning to add some more words later tonight.
I can relate to that sentence so so much. Just so so much.
82% though, so so close.
So many so sos.

Well, somehow a whole bunch of days went by without much in the way of writing. Not sure how that happened. I have done some work on the next Observer, though, so that's something!
For this week, I think I'd like to set myself a goal of writing 4,000 words this week (at least). Tonight, though, I'll be finishing off the third Observer, so look out for that one!
Great goal, Katie! Looking forward to hearing of your progress.
Yes, you better get back in the game, Katie :nods: we need to see progress.
Looking forward to the next Observer edition!
Also I think it's always great to set small goals and then build up -you definitely can achieve 4000 words this week. I know it can be hard being back at full time work of course!
Well, I made a small start tonight with a smidge under 600 words. I can't put the proper stats up yet because I don't have my spreadsheet on this computer, so I'll just have to save it for tomorrow night when I hope to push my daily work count into four digits. My NaNo novel is sitting at just over 71,000 words now, though, which seems rather healthy indeed. I just need to start pulling all of the threads together now.
Well, I made my 4,000 word target, thanks to the write-in today. I'm hoping the inspiration will last enough for me to really get stuck into my novel draft (which, by the way, just turned over 75,000 words this evening).
Here's where things stand for now:
TARGET: 40,000 WORDS - CURRENT: 33,798 WORDS
WRITING PROJECTS
1. NaNo project: 24,700 of 25,000 words - (98%)
Err... maybe I need to increase some of my targets again?
