This month’s writing challenge requires you to rewrite the following a scene from the view of another character. As Isobelle always delivers us with the thought processes of our heroine Elspeth, we’re interested in what her companions are really thinking!
The scene is from ‘The Farseekers’ pg 102-113
(1997 Penguin edition) where Elspeth is taken by Saul to meet the other misfits in the Druid’s camp.Submission Suggestions
The above extract is a rather large scene with quite a few characters present. You do not have to recreate the entire scene from a character’s point of view. Perhaps you’d like to write about Matthew’s shock at Elspeth first contacting him. Or Saul’s distrust of bringing the gypsy girl to meet the others misfits of the camp. Or Domick’s unease of not hearing from the others just before Elspeth comes into contact with him.
It can be in first person or third person, but what judges will be looking for is the thoughts and perceptions of other people in the scene.
