I don't actually have any dreams to describe at the moment, but I thought if I created this thread now while I think of it, I'd be more likely to record the dreams I do have. So often I come here and think, "Well, I can't be bothered starting a thread, so I'll go and do something else." Now, no excuses.
I remember my dreams quite often, and have had one true dream (I'm still undecided whether this was conincidental or not). At one stage, I suffered for months from nightmares which started without any apparent trigger. I'm not as bad now, and hopefully, if I record my dreams I'll be able to makes links between them, and perhaps figure out why I have nightmares so often. I sometimes get story ideas from dreams too (please don't think Stephenie Meyer here [act]cringes[/act]), and trying to write them down here in coherent form may help with that too.
The wanderering I mention in the title is, of course, purely metaphorical. I don't generally go for midnight strolls :P

My alarm went off at 9:30 this morning (not a very impressive time to get up, I know :P), but I went back to sleep and ended up staying in bed until 10:00. In that extra half an hour of sleep, I had a rather strange dream. It was kind of separated into two parts. I can hardly remember the first part. It was set at my old high school (well, it only resembled the school very slightly, but I knew where it was supposed to be in that weird dreamy way). My brother was there doing work in one of the science labs. I went in to help him, but he was treating me really badly, like I was a three year old, when there's only three years between us. I got sick of trying to help him, so I went up to the other end of the school. I know I went into another building on the way, I think it was some sort of staff room, but I can't really remember. I then went to the bus area and stood around waiting for my brother to finish in the lab, and for our dad, who was coming to pick us up. I was standing near a gum tree when two people I knew from primary school, but didn't go to high school with, came up to me. We were talking pleasantly, like you do with people you know but haven't seen for years. Then one of them looked at the tree behind me and spotted a huge grey speckled owl high up in the tree. It was over half a metre high. My Dad and brother arrived at the same time and the owl flew down so it was sitting only about one metre above the ground. The tree had various trunks spreading out from the centre, so it created a sort of bowl where the owl was sitting. My brother was standing right in front of the owl looking towards it, but he didn't see it because it was so well camouflaged. Dad and my brother went off to the car, and I was saying goodbye to my old primary school friends when I noticed that the owl had gone, and in its place in the bowl of the tree was a net covering five birds. Three were pigeons (one was grey and the other two were brown and white), one was a black and white raven, and the other was a colourful yellow and green parrot. I pulled the net off them and the parrot disappeared straight away. I lifted the other four birds down so they were sitting on the ground near my feet. They all seemed completely exhausted. The grey pidgeon wouldn't let go of my finger, so I decided that I'd take it home with me. I bent down to ask the other birds if they'd like to come with me so they had a nice place to rest, but the boy I knew from primary school stepped forward and crushed the two pidgeons. The black and white raven flew away screaming. I got really angry, so I punched the boy and ran off, still holding the grey pidgeon. When I got near where the car was parked, there as a massive gust of wind which threw me up into the air and carried me along about six metres above the ground. I tried to wriggle around, hoping that I'd get closer to the ground so I could grab onto something, but I had no control over where I went. The hill then started to drop away, and I started getting higher and higher in the air. Then I woke up.
I thought it was really weird that I'd have a dream in which I was terrified of being in a high place, as in real life, I absolutely love being up high. My dad had to cut the lower branches off trees when I was little so I'd stop climbing them :P My brother and I always get on so well in real life too, so I was rather offended by his behaviour in this dream. He's in Malaysia at the moment, and I don't see him very often when he's in Australia anyway, so I'm thinking that I'm, not really offended, but saddened by our lack of contact, and I think that's why I subconsciously made him act in a nasty way. I have no idea what was with the birds though. The two primary school friends that appeared in the dream were both people I never really connected with. One of them teased me a bit in primary school, but it was the kind of teasing that wasn't malicious, and I remember being annoyed at the time, but never offended or upset by it.

I had a dream a few nights ago that felt like it lasted hours and hours. I wonder if it's possible for dreams to last that long, or whether we have no perception of real time when we sleep. I guess the latter must be true, because sometimes I wake up feeling like hours have passed, when in reality it's only been ten minutes (and vice versa). Maybe dreaming is like reading a book, where you read about hours or days passing in just a few minutes. Anyway, back to the dream.
I don't remember a lot of it, as I said I did have it a few nights ago, but again, as I said before, I have the feeling that it was completely epic and intricate, full of subplots and meandering. It was set in a school where the teachers had been performing illegal scientific experiments on me and one of my friends (who I really have no idea who they were). My friends and I had to go into hiding for weeks and weeks because the teachers didn't want us to tell anyone about what they had been doing to us. We eventually made it back to the school and were about to reveal all to the students and parents when we were caught. There was a mighty battle between the teachers and my friend and I, but we lost and were imprisoned. I say imprisoned, which I was most certainly was, but I ended up working with some young art teacher, who I prompty fell in love with. Then I woke up in a ball of confusion.
I feel like so much more happened in this dream, but I really can't remember it. I don't think it's because I allowed so much time to elapse between the dream and my recording it here, because I had this same feeling immediately after I woke up.

I had a terrible dream this morning. Maybe if I get up when I first wake up instead of lying around in a semi-sleep I wouldn't have so many weird and awful dreams :-/
Anyway, I had a baby boy. I was pregnant in the dream, gave birth to him, then looked after him for a few months, then someone stole him! I know it was only a dream, but it was the worst feeling. I think I've been watching too much Torchwood lately...

Some interesting night time wandering there Kaede. I have very vivid very strange dreams which mostly I don't want to remember but i think its a good idea you have to record them to try to find links. Do you have the same dream on a lot of nights? Or do you have different ones all the time?

I used to have lots of recurring dreams when I was younger, but I haven't had any for years now. I seem to have different ones all the time, some just strange and some horrible nightmares where I wake up terrified even if I can't remember why I'm scared.
I had another one this morning. Me and everyone at my uni college were walking up a massive flight of stairs to go to the cinema. When we got to the top, the cinema had a large hole in the floor in the middle of the room with two planks going across it. There were only two or three rows of seating going around the room. When it was my turn to be seated, all the seats on the side I was already on had been filled, so I had to cross the planks. They didn't have any railings, being only planks, and were about a foot wide and seven metres long. I lay down and squirmed along on my stomach with my eyes closed because I was terrified of falling off. I find it strange that in dreams I'm so afraid of heights, but in real life if I encountered something like this, I'd find it a strange way of building a cinema, but walking across it wouldn't be a great dilemma. 'Tis odd.
