Hee, I'm with you Avialle! Normally all the historical inaccuracies would bother me, but Merlin is so incredibly cheesy that I forgive it :P I want to watch more!
merlin's a funny tv show with all the historical things mismatched but i just like concentrating on the plot. i was expecting a little bit more but it's still good enough. hopefully it will get better as the plot continues(so far i've only watched the first ep)
I really liked the second episode too.
lol, am I the only one who's sensing homosexual undertones between Arthur and Merlin? I don't know, maybe it's just me. :P But you've gotta love all of that 'male camaraderie' ;P
I really like Gwynevere as well. I'm not such a fan of Morgana. I don't know, maybe she'll grow on me. :P
I love Morgana! I love the verbal sparring between her and Arthur, lol :P
Hee, I am noticing that too :P "You can trust me!" *they stare deep into each others eyes* Lolololol :D
Yay! There are Merlin fans! Stick with it! It gets really good from here on out! :D
I'm with all the peeps who think this is all historically wrong - well, not historically, seeing as it's based on a legend, but a definite twist on the legend as we know it. I don't care though! I like it's teeny cheesyness!
The latest episode was good too. I just love the cheesiness of it all! I was laughing pretty much the whole way through the episode. Hehe, Arthur and Merlin are so cute.

Heh, not to mention the dragon. "You and Arthur meant to be together! You are two sides of the same coin! You are two halves of the same whole, etc. LOL ;P And I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing these things. I was starting to think I was just weird. :P
About Morgana - I don't know, I think it's her accent that puts me off. :P It just keeps coming and going - it's really distracting! I think she's trying not to put on an accent, but it keeps creeping back, and then she ends up talking in this lilting voice that is... a little strange, considering that absolutely no one around her speaks in an accent. :P
But her character so far is ok. I wonder if they're going to go into the whole incest thing? Or they might just cut that all out to make it PG. I hope they don't. :P That would just ruin the story.
good thing the actors are so charismatic because the script is absolutely horrid sometimes. Lol, yeah arthur/merlin eye chemistry incredible |;)
Argh, I keep missing episodes, but I think it has great potential so far. Hopefully it will fulfill it!
Im really enjoying it..at first the facts (or watever) being wrong did bother me, but its really good to watch..i missed the most recent episode tho :|..and hehe im glad im not the only one to get that..vibe about merlin and athur..i thought my mind was just being weird hehe
I think we get that vibe because merlin just looks girly :P
It's always a relief to hear that other people are feeling that vibe between Merlin and Arthur and that it's not just me! I have a tendancy to see subtext pretty much everywhere :p

Yeah, it's good that they're starting to bring in all of the major characters.
I really like Morgana now, she's one of my favourite characters. And I like Mordred and don't want him to turn all evil. :( I wonder why he's so... creepy. Now I'm intrigued as to his back-story.
Oooh, maybe he and Morgana are actually brother and sister?! Rather than the whole mother-son, thing. Because I'm pretty sure that Morgana would have noticed if she had become pregnant and given birth, so it looks like they're not going to tackle the whole incest issue. Good job valiantly struggling to keep it PG. ;P
I have to say, I'm glad that it looks like Arthur and Morgana won't be brother and sister. I want them to be together, and it would just be too ewwy if the story followed its original path.

Wasn't Mordred Arthurs older brother in one version of the legend? I can't seem to keep my head around who is suposed to be who, though I never thought of Morganna as Arthur's sister, ewwy would be right. I'll have to brush up on my Arthurian legends again.

In the version I saw, Merlin was much older.
Basically, Merlin helped Uther gain the throne. But Uther wanted to sleep with a woman called Igraine, who was already married, and Uther persuaded Merlin to help him do so. Merlin agreed on the condition that the woman's son would be entrusted to him, and that Igraine's husband would not be harmed.
Merlin transformed Uther's appearance so that he looked like Igraine's husband. Uther slept with Igraine, and Igraine's husband was killed by Uther's men.
Igraine already had a daughter, Morgana (who possessed some magic talent). She gave birth to Arthur (so Arthur and Morgana are half siblings).
Uther commits suiced, and Arthur becomes king.
Queen Mab (don't worry about who she is :P ) convinces Morgana to seduce Arthur, and then Morgana gives birth to a child (Mordred), who is raised by Queen Mab.
Arthur marries Guinevere. Arthur goes off to search for the Holy Grail, and Guinevere and Lancelot have an affair.
Arthur comes back, and basically Mordred kills him.
Oh, and in the legend, Merlin is in love with Nimue. :)
That is an extremely condensed version of it (even though it might not look short. :P )

lol, thanks Avialle. Short versions are good.
I always watch Merlin when it's on. I think it's awesome. Hey, is the series that is on now a new series, or is this the first?
Yeah first series, I've already seen it all and am lusting for more. The plot is incredibly cheesy but I quite like cheese so it doesn't bother me so much, the character interactions are just hilarious so they make up for it anyway.
I always get an incredible urge to want to pull Merlin's big ears when i watch it though . . .
Arthur/Merlin vibes get even worse/better as series goes on, hilarity ensures.
+++++++++Season 2 News ++++++++++++
Season 2 will be broadcast by the BBC in the autumn (no exact dates yet)
New and returing characters this season will be: The Great Dragon, The Lady of the Lake, Mordred, Cedric, Aredian & Lady Catrina
I'm really enjoying Merlin too, but I am kind of hoping that a greater story arc will develop. Traditionally there is some sort of major struggle in Arthurian legend (such as the Merlin and Queen Mab storyline from the movie Merlin, or Arthur becoming a great king) - I know its early days yet - but so far the episodes aren't strongly linked, and the only unresolved enemy is Nimue.
I think they're trying to make Uther vs All Magic Ever the big plotline, but it's not really working that well - you're right, Kieran, I hadn't really noticed it but now that you mention it I can really see how standalone most of the episodes are.
Also, I think Lancelot may be back next season? But don't quote me on that! ;)
I think that Uther is just way over the top with Nimueh... she didn't know that his wife had to die for Arthur... so he's just being a little over reactive
From LiveJournal - a possible start date of September 12 in the UK. (link I got this from is here:http://community.livejournal.com/bradleycolin/177988.html, I didn't post it though.)
They've just now finished airing Season 1 in the U.S., so I have no idea when season 2 will be shown :( It's very disappointing.
Is it me, or does Merlin have giant ears?!
