Swallow: As you are all quite aware, with the recent uprising of the Rebels and overthrow of the Council and Herders, the knowledge of Talented Misfits is becoming known across the land.
My brothers and sisters, we already possess the gift of ‘truth knowing’ while others of us are blessed with the ability true dream, and sometimes see the future.
But these Misfits who stand among us possess great Talents that could be immensely beneficial to the land.
The debate topic for this round is a hypothetical:
If we had the ability to cultivate one Talent within us, which do you believe we should nuture to bring about the greatest benefit to the people of the Land:
Coercing, Beastspeaking, Farseeking or Empathy?
I think he either means cultivating in everyone, so it's like we're scientists and looking at a widespread thing we could do the population (a bit like putting flouride in the water to make everyone's teeth better, we're looking at starting research into what we can put into the water or whatever to make everyone a coercer)

Phaw - and I thought I analysed things ;D
I like your idea MK that people with a natural shield are really budding, but currently weak, coercers so it's already the most populous of talents.
I think if we're saying that coercion = mind shield = peace of mind, freedom and other good stuff (but we don't want to over-emphasise these because it will bring up the concept of mind control in people's minds, I think we have a fine line to walk here) then it could be a good one to cultivate because it means we can get rid of Demon Bands, which are bad for your health.
if we could work out a way for the organisation of your mind to benefit the people of the land
in regards to Mind organising
fterall, it's not only coercing that could be abused. Fake futuretellings? Empaths sending angry vibes to ruin diplomatic meetings, or your credibility, or get you killed? Teknoguilders accidentally turning on the weapon machines?
Curiously, Rushton's mind had the greatest storage capacity.
As if reading my thoughts, Ceirwan said, 'Funny to think that Rushton has the greatest capacity for holding mental energy of us all, but that he can't use the power because his Talents are latent.'
'I dout he finds it funny,' I said, knowing Rushton regretted his inability to use the Misfit power locked in his mind. He could be used as a focusing agent only if someone with coercive ability tapped his mind. He had no conscious access to it at all.
... [in which they talk of the weather ::) ]
'What do you think of Garth's theory that normal people are developing natural and unconscious shileds to stop Talented misfits reading them?' Ceirwan asked, as we walked.
I shrugged. 'There have always been unTalented people with natural mental shields, or mind sensitivity. Since most people have no idea there are misfits like us, how could they develop defensive shields because of us?'
'Garth says it doesn't matter if they know about us or not. He says unTalents are developing the ability to shield in response to our devlopment of the power to enter their minds.'
'It's true that there are a lot more people with natural shields than there were, but I doubt we are the cause. If so, that would put paid to the theory that we are the next step in humn evolution. It would mean we are simply one strand in human evolution and the unTalents are another. That practically brings us back to the Herder theory that we are mutations from true humanity.' -Ashling, p35-36
